How did the spring and summer go for you with basketball?
“Summer ball wasn’t as good as I hoped. Baseball kind of took over and I wasn’t able to go to as many tournaments as I’d hoped I’d be able to.”

What are your workout plans now going forward?
“My workout plans are just making sure I get up to the local rec center and get up lots of shots. I’ve been trying to get at least 300 in per day. on top of that, I’ve been running and doing small workouts at my house, just trying to stay in shape until I am able to get into the weight room at school.”

What have you improved on the most since last season?
“Over the summer, I’ve been trying to work on my decision making and court vision. My assist to turnover ratio was not where it needed to be last year, so those needed to drop. Also, I’ve been working on finishing around the rim and making my jumper more consistent just by getting the reps in.”

How do you believe your high school basketball team will be next season?
“Honestly, I think this is the best team we’ve had in my time wearing a Clipper jersey. We are bringing back 4 of our 5 starters and we have some rising sophomores as well as some guys who are coming back who played significant minutes last year as in summer ball. We have a real good shot to make a state tournament run and win the conference in the WaMac West.”

What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2019-2020?
“The toughest game on the west side of the conference will be Center Point-Urbana. They’re an extremely well coached team as well as sharp defensively. They’ll make it really hard for us to put points up on the board and they’ll make it hard for us to keep them from putting points up there. On the other side, Central Dewitt and Marion will be tough games. I know Central Dewitt is returning their top 3 guys and they’re all over 6’2 so matchups will be hard there. With Marion, I’m pretty sure only lost one or two guys and they’re returning their best offensive player in Will Henrickson along with their best defensive player in Jaffer Murphy.”

Who is the toughest individual player you will play against this season?
“This is a tough one. I know Tucker Kinney from Dewitt is going to be tough. He’s got great court vision and he can finish at the rim and shoot. He’s going to be a great competitor.”

What sport do you want to play in college?
“Definitely basketball. It’s been a lifelong passion of mine.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“The only school who has shown real interest has been St. Ambrose.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have made the trip over to Davenport to visit St. Ambrose. I was really impressed by Coach Ray’s mentality and their campus was far and beyond what I expected. I’ll probably make it up again for a visit before basketball season and to see a game.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Go Hawks baby.”
