How did the football season go for your team?
“At the beginning of the year, we knew we had to work hard to get to the point we wanted to be at. I felt mid-season is when we really started to pick things up. Everybody was working hard and getting better, especially those guys who were involved in the loss last year. They had a chip on their shoulder and used it every day at practice. The synergy at the end of the year was incredible and everybody was playing at their highest level. It was also awesome the way we ended last season with a state championship and sharing that moment with my teammates and my dad, who has been an assistant coach at Xavier since 1998.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“During the winter, I was able to focus on workouts that add more weight and muscle mass. In these upcoming months, I’ll be doing scheduled workouts for track and baseball along with daily workouts for football.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“I think that getting bigger, faster, and stronger is the most important thing to focus on. I also want to improve my moves on the field, like speed cuts and jukes to improve my game. I also think that improvement on special teams and catching the ball in traffic is a very big part of my game I need to improve.”
How do you believe your team will be next season?
“We have some important guys returning, but we lost a lot of important senior leadership. Like a lot of high school teams, if the upcoming seniors and juniors step up and work hard in the off-season, we will have an opportunity to be successful.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“Our 2018 schedule does not come out until Wednesday, but we will have a take one game at a time mentality.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“If I had the opportunity to play a sport in college, I would definitely take the opportunity to do so. Which sport really depends on which opportunity is the best fit for me and which team I could contribute to the most.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have heard from some midlevel and small schools in the Midwest so far. I am looking forward to the recruiting process and finding a college that I can contribute to the most.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college visits yet, but I am planning on doing so this upcoming year.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“I’m planning on going to Iowa, Iowa State, UNI, Benedictine College and South Dakota State.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I grew up in a Hawkeye household and it’s always been my number one team.”
