How did the football season go?
“Football season didn’t go as planned. I also traveled and played baseball on the weekend, so I was happy to get through each week without getting hurt. The team dealt with ineligible players and some injuries, so that held us back a little bit. From week one to nine, we did have growth overall and it was fun playing and practicing with the guys around me.”
Were you pleased with how the year went overall?
“Somewhat. No one wants to go 4-5, but I made some fun memories along the way and the relationships and bonds with my teammates and coaches will last a life time.”
What are your workout and sporting plans now?
“I don’t have any sporting plans right now. I plan on hitting in the cage everyday after school and on the weekends. Then I will follow my weight lifting programs in the morning workouts at school.”
How do you feel about your baseball team for next summer?
“I feel pretty confident with the team. We have plenty of guys and experience coming back. We have all been playing together since we were eight and nine, so we have some good chemistry. We are excited to get the season going and off-season workouts started.”
What will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think Western Dubuque will be our toughest competition. They have three big time D1 players who I have played with. They are all great guys on and off the field, so I’m excited to play them.”
What are the keys for a big final year of high school baseball?
“Pitching will be key. Losing Jake Bockenstedt and Nick Nading hurt, but it’s always nice having Rimmy shutout kids left and right. We also have Ben Skogman, Mick Mccurry, Matyk Hilton, and Draeden Spang.”
Why did you end up picking Southeastern?
“I thought Southeastern was a great fit for me. They’re a great stepping stone for players and I know the coaches will help me get to where I want to be. It’s close to home, so I’m excited to get down there and get started.”
What other schools did you consider?
“SDSU and UW-Parkside.”
How important were the coaches in your final decision?
“Very important. I know from previous years what they have done for players and with their teams as well. My current coaches have said good things about the school, so I thought this is the place for me.”
