How did the high school football season go overall?
“I think the football season went well. We were able to make the playoffs, which is always good. I think I had a good season. I finished around the top five in the state in rushing, which is good considering I split a good amount of carries. I give all my success to the offensive line and our coaching staff. Coach White is a great guy and he had us prepared every game day. I’d go to war for him any day.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I don’t play a winter sport, so this is a great time to incorporate baseball, football, and track workouts. I have a personal trainer in Cedar Rapids, Brett Stephenson. He’s a good guy and has my best interests at heart.”
What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“I’m pretty fast, but there’s always room for improvement. I think it’s important to be efficient as possible when running. I believe the intangibles are also important. Things that can’t be taught, as far as work ethic, being a good teammate, and other similar aspects to the game.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We lose and return a lot of guys next season. We also have some transfers I know of coming to Kennedy, so that will help. The goal is always to make it to the Dome and I believe that’s very possible for our football team. I will focus on the next 200 feet and that’s getting ready for track.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“The toughest team will be West Des Moines Valley. They’re a football powerhouse, but it’s on our turf and we’ll be prepared.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I’d love to play football at the college level. My brother, Christian French, played at the University of Oregon.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Colleges that have been recruiting me are Iowa, Iowa state, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, and Minnesota.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I’ve made two unofficial visits to Northern Illinois and Minnesota.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite team growing up was Oregon because my brother played for them.”
