How did the high school basketball season go overall?
“If you look at our overall record, it wasn’t what we thought it was going to be going into the season. We had some growing pains as a team but are well on our way to working those out. For me personally, my game grew a lot and I matured as a player. Things started to really click about mid-season.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“This summer, I’m playing AAU with the team I’ve played with my entire life, which is J-Hawk Attack (@JHawkAttack22). The team is all players from Jefferson, and we’ve been playing together since we were in 2nd grade. We’ll be competing in tourneys in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas. We’re also looking forward to summer workouts at the school. In terms of working out, I’m on a routine workout program and lift nearly every day. My diet and program are specifically geared towards basketball.”
How do you feel your team will do next basketball season?
“This last year was a building year and we’ve learned a lot as teammates. Our entire varsity team will be back next year with more experience under our belts, and we’ll be ready to compete. I have high hopes for a successful season and a much longer postseason run for us. I have confidence we’ll come back from this year.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think that our cross-town rivals are always really good games. Playing against Washington, Linn-Mar, Kennedy and Prairie is tough. They are always intense because it’s a lot of players that we’ve been playing against for a long time, both at school and during the spring and summer. Our senior season is going to be very competitive.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Our team, in terms of height, isn’t very big. I think the tallest we have is 6’3”. So, any team that comes with a lot of height is always challenging. Our coaching staff is great at coming up with game plans to get past that, but it’s always tough. There are a lot of really good players in the conference, but we’ll be ready.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“My primary sport in high school has been basketball and I definitely plan to continue playing at the next level. I do run cross-country as well each year.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have had a couple of conversations with college coaches but nothing extremely specific right now. I look forward to developing more relationships over the summer and into next fall.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I haven’t made any visits yet, but I’m working with my parents to start planning those out.”
Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“Nothing is scheduled yet, but I’m in the process.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I’ve always been a Hawkeye fan. It’s great to see so many local Iowa players on the Hawks over the years.”
