How did the football season go for your team?
“This past season was one a lot of people here in Cascade will remember. We went undefeated in the regular season, won a district championship, and broke a handful of team records. Obviously, our season was cut a little short losing in the quarterfinals, but this past season was a fun one. It’s going be a tough senior class to replace.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“With being a four-sport athlete, it’s pretty hard to find time to get my lift and workouts in. A few of the guys get up with me in the mornings and we get our lifts in before school. It sucks at times when I’m getting home from a basketball game at 11:30 at night then waking up at 6:30 to lift, but that’s what the process is all about.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“The thing I’m trying to improve on most this off-season is my foot work and balance. I know my speed and strength are there, but I understand that those are two things I need to work on moving forward into this season and college. Not only do I need to work on my footwork and balance, I need to work on my leadership skills and understand that it’s my turn to take the team under my wing to lead them into another successful season.”
How do you believe your team will be next season?
“I think our team will be one to watch out for next season. We obviously had a big senior class and are losing four out of five linemen, and losing big time skill players such as Austin Lierance, Johnny Supple and Blake Simon. However, we have guys that are going to step up and bring stuff to the table. We have some big boys coming up on the line and we have Haris Hoffman returning at quarterback, Colby Holmes at running back, and Tom Knepper returning on the line for us. We’re going to have weapons, there’s no doubt about that. It’s going to be interesting to see how the guys respond from the heartbreaker in the quarterfinals last season. I’m excited because we are going to have a good group of guys getting after it.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“I think the toughest game on our schedule for next year is going to be either West Branch or Beckman. West Branch has Cornwell, who can make some plays, but Beckman also has Grover and Fangman as weapons as well.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I want to play college football.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“UNI came to talk to Coach Frake and said they’ll stay in touch with me. As of right now, that’s the only recruiting action I’ve received.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college trips.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“I plan to attend the University of Iowa football camps, UNI football camps, and Iowa State camps this coming summer.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Since a kid, I’ve been a huge Hawkeye fan and have always had a dream/goal to be a Hawk someday.”
