How did the high school football season go overall?
“Our team went 4-5 this year, which doesn’t look great at first. You always want to win more games of course, but I was super proud of my team and what we accomplished. Not a lot of people believed in us after graduating a big senior class the year before. But all in all, I would say it was a good season.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I’ve got basketball starting soon, and we’re hoping to win our first conference title since 1989. I’m still lifting every day in school and keeping my strength up. Then in the spring, I’ve got track where I throw discus. I’m looking to have a successful year in both track and basketball.”

What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“Two areas I’m looking to improve are my footwork and hands. I need to work on my striking with heavy hands and using my length to my advantage. As for my footwork, I need to develop quicker feet. My coach recommended using a quick foot ladder which I recently got and have been doing different drills to improve. But the biggest thing would be stepping into that leadership role, as I’ll be a senior next year. We graduated a lot of great senior leaders, so I’m hoping to fill the big shoes set for me.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe our team next year is going to be great. Our senior class is a close-knit group, having played together for so long. We’ve also got underclassmen who played a big part of our team this year and will do the same next year.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“I’d say our hardest game next year will be Lewis Central. They’re a team that’s clearly talented, making a state run this year, and it’ll be a good challenge for us. They’ve got kids on that team who are really good, so it’ll be a fun matchup.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I’ve always wanted to play a sport in college. I have since I started to get into sports. If I get the opportunity to play football somewhere, I’d take it, as I could finally fulfill that dream.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far, I’ve gotten some interest from only one school, Coe College. I attended a prospect camp there this last summer.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I’d say Coe has been, since they’re the only one who’s contacted me in some form.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not taken any, except for the prospect camp at Coe where we got a tour of their athletic facilities. I do plan on making some soon although so that I can get an idea of what college I’d like to attend.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college growing up was Iowa. I was named after the former legendary coach, Hayden Fry. My dad grew up a big Hawks fan.”
