What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“Most of our football team has been in the weight room Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for lifting, speed training, and a football session. We have really good strength coaches that are preparing us very well for the upcoming season. I have also been going to therapy since December for my shoulder, as I tore my labrum last football season. I have made a full recovery and will stop going to therapy within the next month.”

What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“Something I have improved on the most is my explosiveness and speed. This is very important for linebackers to be able to disrupt plays. I have also gained a lot of weight and muscle since last football season. Last season I was about 180 pounds, and this year I should be around 210 pounds.”

What are you trying to improve on before the football season begins?
“The only thing I am working on through the rest of the off-season is strengthening my shoulder, getting stronger, and getting bigger.”

Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“Our season opener is against South Tama. I feel like we will be very prepared with the work our coaches put in. We had a lot of coaching changes over the off-season, but I feel like the mentality of our previous coach will be reflected well with our new coaching staff. Our team doesn't have the most athletically talented people, but we work hard enough to beat those type of teams.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I would be most open to playing football, but soccer and baseball are both possibilities too.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Some schools that are directly recruiting me are Wartburg and Coe College. Some other schools reaching out to me include Buena Vista, Simpson, Cornell, Hamline, Augustana, and Central.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I would say Wartburg is recruiting me the hardest. I went to a football visit day this spring and will be attending a camp there.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have gone to Wartburg.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I plan to visit Coe, Iowa, and Simpson.”

What camps did you do this summer and how did they go?
“I have gone to a camp at the University of Iowa and it went really well. I performed well for the first time I'd put pads on since my surgery.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college has always been Iowa, but realistically, it's very hard to play D1 sports.”
