What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I've been doing mostly stuff at home, such as pushups, sit ups, crunches, and pull ups. Every now and then, I'll go to a friend's house and use his weight room.”
What are your goals for the season?
“My goals for this season are to build on my first two seasons. I would like to have more receiving yards this year and if I could find the end zone around 20 times this year, that would be great.”
What areas do you feel your team needs to improve on?
“My team needs to improve the most on the defensive side and finishing our tackles. We are good at getting to the ball, but we just need to finish the play.”
Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“We play Meskwaki week 1 and they've definitely improved from a couple years ago. The last time we played them it was the last game of last year's season and we beat them 88-90 and set and Iowa High School record for most points scored in a football game. We know that it'll be a dogfight, but we're ready.”
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“Our team has a lot of young guys this year. In fact, I think we only have 3 or 4 seniors so I feel like we will struggle a little bit because of that. Once the young guys start putting things together, I think we will be a completely different team, so it should be pretty exciting this year.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I definitely feel like Gladbrook-Reinbeck will be the toughest opponent we face. They've always been good and they are relentless in the ground game.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against this fall?
“Since the districts got redone, we haven't played a lot of these teams, but we know Taurice Grant from Meskwaki is a very quick and talented receiver who gave us problems in the past.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I definitely want to play sports in college, and I feel like either football or track would be my best bet. I'd really like to play football in college. That would be a dream come true.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far, there hasn't been many colleges recruiting me that hard. I've just received some mail on potential camps and things like that.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college trips yet, but I plan to visit many different colleges this year.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college growing up was definitely Iowa State. Go Cyclones.”
