How did the high school football season go overall?
“The season went extremely well. We played well against high competition every week. We fell one game short of the goal, but still accomplished things that hadn’t been done in a long time in Audubon. 42 years to be exact. Overall, I am grateful for what our team was able to achieve through the course of the season.:

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“As of the future of my junior year, I plan to play basketball, which will be most of my workouts as lifting is incorporated in the practices. Once games start, I will most likely come in with teammates to lift and try and improve as there is less time to lift in season during practices because of games two to three times a week. I will also do track and baseball. During track, it will be individual lifting as it isn’t part of practice. Looking to lift with football teammates again there. In the summer with baseball, I will continue to do the same as I have more free time.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“In the 2020 season of football, I’m looking forward to another successful year. We will be only returning 3 players that played offensively and defensively, Gavin Smith a sophomore, Joel Klocke a junior, and me a junior. There are a lot of kids that are excited to get the chance to show what they can do on the field, including Braden Wessel, Joey Schramm, and Alex Foran who saw the field this year when starters got hurt or on special teams. All three of them are sophomores this year. Some positions that will need to be filled are kicking and the line. We lose Jackson Jensen kicking and all three senior lineman who played both sides of the ball. The three linemen were Tanner Petersen, Eric Hermansen, and Luke Mosinski. Those jobs can definitely be filled with quality players as long as a good work ethic is seen in the off season. Excited for what is to come.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“It’s tough to say who is going to be the best competition as re-districting will take place. Teams that will most likely be on our schedule and return a lot are CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, and Woodbine. And our non-district teams this year, Fremont Mills-Tabor and Remsen St. Mary’s, will be quality teams coming back. Key players on each team I listed are Lane Spieker from CAM, Aaron McCalister from Coon Rapids Bayard, Lane Pryor from Woodbine, Seth Malcolm from Fremont Mills, and Blaine Harpenau from Remsen. Competition is going to be tough on the West side of the state in 8-Player football.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Currently, I’m not sure on if I want to play sports in college. I’m still deciding which major I would like to go into, which will make a big decision on where I will go to college. If I was going to play college sports, I would be looking to play football. Gaining size and speed would be needed from me to get to that goal. I haven’t talked to or visited any colleges affiliating with sports so I wouldn’t have a place I would like to play as of right now.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I haven’t had any colleges talk to me about sports or playing for them. Hopefully next year I will get the chance to talk to some of them.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“College trips for me will be something I am looking to do this winter soon.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I am planning on visiting the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and Central College. I am sure I will look into other colleges as different interests arise.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I have always been an Iowa fan growing up and love to watch their athletic events.”
