What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I have been doing some workouts with the other quarterback on the team to make my arm stronger as well as his. I have been doing smaller workouts at home since I can’t get into a facility.”
What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“I think I am a lot more football smart. My decision making will hopefully be better this year as well as arm strength.”
What are you trying to improve on before the football season begins?
“All around strength. I’m not a very big kid, so I need to have anything to help that, and strength is one of those things.”
How has Covid-19 factored into your workouts?
“It has made it a lot more difficult to lift and stuff like that, but it has made it a lot easier to get outside and work on things like accuracy, since those can be a one person activity, and it gives me something to do. “
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I think that if we play our best football than we will make the playoffs at the least, but we have to show up for every game. All of the teams on our schedule are beatable, but not even close to cupcakes.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Clarinda will be tough for sure. They beat us last year and are returning a lot of key players.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against this fall?
“Michael Shull is a very good athlete from Clarinda. Playing quarterback is very hard to stop him because he can hurt you with his feet, and his arm, and he doesn’t play a bad defensive side of the ball either. He is an all-around unbelievable athlete.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I would love to play football in college, but I also understand that I would have to get a lot bigger and stronger.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“None at the moment.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I haven’t made any yet.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Absolutely, I will probably start going on those college trips next year as a junior.”
What camps are you planning to do this summer?
“I have already signed up for the Grand View camp, and our team goes to the Simpson team camp every year. I also plan to go to a few more as well, I just haven’t figured out which ones yet.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I sure did. I’ve always liked Iowa, but my other favorites are the University of Florida and TCU because of Max Duggan.”
