Who are your state title picks?

Can Wahlert three-peat? Can Iowa City West get back on track? Can Treynor continue to dominate in 2A? Who can take home the crown in 1A?

150+ views and no responses? I'll take:

IC West
Wahlert
Western Christian
1A is up in the air.

IC West should be improved over last year and with their four D1- caliber players (I'm counting two McCaffreys) should be prohibitive favorites this time around. Coach Bergman will have his kids focused and playing tough defense and precision offense.
Dubuque Wahlert (if everyone is healthy) could be scary good with their eight senior veterans (five in the front court all between 6-6 and 6-9) and their top three guards all returning (four, if you count 6-6 Riley Till, who will play a lot of wing guard). Games with defending 4A champ North Scott, IC West (twice), Linn Mar and WDM Dowling will pack the gyms. Spirit Lake and Waverly could also contend for the state championship and will both be better than last year with veterans all over the court.
I go with Western Christian in 2A because I think they have the front court to build around. I also think 1A is pretty much up for grabs.

4A - IC West. Just too much talent.
3A - Wahlert, don't overlook Chariton
2A - Western Christian
1A - Nodaway Valley, Jesup, North Linn...but never count out Boyden-Hull

Chariton is loaded with talented and experience but I think that schedule really hurts them. They obviously can't control their conference but this team being battled tested in the Little Hawkeye would help their chances a lot more.

I completely agree. Hopefully they were able to schedule a team like Norwalk, Pella or Grinnell again for a little challenge.

All-staters Hockenson and Laing and crew sure will be tough for Chariton. I also see CR Xavier as a dark horse for the 3A title, also. 3A is just loaded with talented players this year.

Agreed on Xavier. Also very curious to see the growth of Heelan this year. They are talented.

For a name to watch closely!!! Pocahontas Area. Substate last year. Key players are back!!!

Will be curious to see how they come along this year. You can almost envision them in a District Final against St. Eds. St. Eds is another one to look out for.
