Predict your state champion

I am not very familiar with CCA, to be honest. So, I don't know what the regular lineup is for them. I watched the Fairfield -- CCA game from last Friday and was not very impressed with CCA. But, they also may have been sitting some regulars. If that was CCA's regular lineup playing, then I would call them a very longshot darkhorse.

Pella is my pick
They have a go to player in Clayberg that very well could be top player in 3a.
I think Pella has held him back so far but he will take over playoff games just like the Jewell kid did for Decorah a couple years ago.

As it stands right now, I see 3 teams that have the best shot at winning the championship.

In no particular order:

Solon- They have experience in big games and always have a solid game plan prepared. They seem to be firing on all cylinders right now and will be a tough out for any opponent.

Pella- This is a very talented offensive team which has proven to be explosive, putting up 47 points/game. They have not really been tested though other than the Carlisle game. I think that if they have the ability to sustain long drives and control the ball they have a very good shot at winning it all.

Heelan- This is a program that knows how to win, and they have the talent to do it again this year. Experienced coaching can take a team a long way, and they certainly have that.

I also see Carlisle having a shot to make the title game, along with Xavier. I think that the 3A title really is up for grabs and it should be a very exciting post season this year

You can make somewhat of a comparison with the CCA vs Fairfield.

When CCA played their regulars vs Assumption and Wash it was 27-0 and 20-17.
When FF played they lost 35-22 and 42-12

One hindrance to Pella has been their weak schedule late in the season. Although you could argue keeping guys fresh is a plus, too.

Clayberg and most other starters have yet to see a minute of play in the 2nd half in October. In fact, Clayberg has been pulled late in the 2nd quarter in a few games recently. Don't let the high scores fool you, this is not a "run up the score" staff.

It will be Heelan or Pella.

Next rung down would be Xavier and Carroll.

Not really seeing Carlisle in this conversation. Unless the road to the dome went through Carlisle (which it won't) I would be very surprised to even see them at the dome. DCG? Not close...too inconsistent.
