As always graduations, coaching changes, health will play a role going into the pre season and throughout.

I think this season is the most wide open that I have seen in many years. This is what I love about high school football what coaches can find that diamond in the rough to get their team in contention for a play-off birth, and once you get to the playoffs all bets are off.

This is a great season for class A football. I’m new to this but I thought I’d put this in here to spark some conversation. North Central Iowa will once again be very tough with West Hancock returning a lot of tough sophomores who really shocked a lot of people last year on how well they played. Bishop Garrigan is another good team to watch out for. They return a lot of to be seniors and have won 27 straight regular season games. I think belmond is a sleeper this year as well. They just had a great season last year but lost some key guys but return some great all state caliber players as well. I wouldn’t not be surprised at all to see all 3 of these teams in the playoffs. I don’t really know much about teams outside of north central Iowa but I hear good things about Alburnette and Sully. Sorry if there’s grammatical errors or spelling errors I wrote this in a hurry.

@Anonymous111 welcome to the posting! We're glad to have you and your input! Always good to have eyes all over the state. The new king of the north! (game of thrones reference for those who are unaware)

@falconfanx3 lol thanks! I love game thrones and thanks for the compliment! I’ve got an interesting question as i haven’t been on the seen to long. How many Class A players a year usually go D1? That can be FBS or FCS. I couldn’t imagine it being more then 10? Anyone have input on this?

@Anonymous111 I bet you would be surprised. Last year class A had multiple D1 Talent, both FCS and FBS. With many players going d2 or juco (some who after juco will go d1) I think you look at the traditional powerhouses and find those horses. Once a reputation is built at a high school program many college suitors tend to follow suit and continuously visit those breeding grounds. Alburnett has a horse who is getting offers from SDSU and many other FCS Schools. Saint Albert had a lineman go to Iowa last year. West SIoux's tight end is a big time d1 prospect. (they are now 1a) 1A west lyon has had multiple d1 talent over the years, along with Saint Albert. HMS has had some NAIA stars over the years. AHST has a pauly kid who could potentially be a nice small school college player. Lawton and Logan magnolia have produced d1 talent (university of Iowa)

Point being there is talent all over Iowa, Small and Large schools. I think what seperates Iowa athletes apart from other schools is the physicality in which they are raised and play with. A lot of the west and east coast is pure speed ball. In the midwest it's a lot of ground and pound. Big strong farm kids, who are built and raised tough and to work hard. That's why states like Iowa and Nebraska have becoming a breeding ground for LB and OL/DL talent.

COMPLETELY agree with you. A lot of my friends who played at larger schools don’t understand small town football. A lot of the players are big strong farm kids. There tough to compete with and play there asses off. West Lyon I think it was 2013 year had 4 D1 players on the same squad. West Sioux I think has a quarterback right now who will be D1 as well. West hancock has some D2/NAIA players as well.

The Doc is back it must be getting close! Camp starts Monday for most schools. The best time of the year is right around the corner.

Iron Doc I’d like to hear a run down of how you think the eagles will be this season? They got a very talented team and I expect them to be very good this season. How do u think there district will shake out and who will be there biggest competition

To be honest, I am so far removed from the program time wise that about all I can say is to check the roster on Quickstats to see who the returning Beasts are.
With that said, Iron Doc's ever humble opinion is that the Beasts will win the district, primarily on the ground (imagine that). As always, Iron Doc thinks the Golden Bears will be the main competition. That is Foreordained.
Hopefully, a program insider will step up and provide CURRENT information.
