FIRST ROUND, Quartered

#11 Fort Dodge @ #3 West Des Moines Valley
#10 Waukee @ #6 Johnston

#14 Davenport Central @ #4 Iowa City West
#15 Pleasant Valley @ #5 Bettendorf

Wouldn't they try to avoid PV @ Bettendorf, seeing as it's a rematch? I know the state usually tries to avoid rematches when possible, especially first round. Also Waukee @ Johnston.

So how I was thinking only 6 teams from the East would make it in. Nive work!

I think that's mostly how the playoffs would look if they started today. Tonight, Davenport Central is @ CR Kennedy, both of which are 4-3, with the loser of that game needing a lot to go their way to get back in. Muscatine (4-3) is also @ IC West (6-1) tomorrow, which could put Muscatine on the outside looking in. And Davenport North (5-2) is @ Pleasant Valley (3-4). Meanwhile SC East has a pretty winnable game @ DM Lincoln, likewise of Ankeny hosting SC North, while the loser of the Marshalltown @ SE Polk game will essentially be eliminated (especially if SE Polk loses). Marshalltown would need help to get back in, and still face an uphill battle against Ft. Dodge in week 9.

One would think but last year Bett played PV in the first round (a rematch), so perhaps the state is also keen to a bigger gate potential ;)

I was looking at District 6, which could end in a 3way tie. With more than 8 teams from the RPI in the 16 spots.

The "rematch rule" pertains to district rematches, not those occurring in non-district play. Also, as it was mentioned, a Pleasant Valley/Bettendorf game would likely result in a healthier gate.
