It has been reported that there is a possibility that the FCS playoffs may get moved back a week and start the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend. This obviously has some impact on our high school playoffs because of the use of the UNIDome. My question is, if the Dome became available for use on that weekend, would the state look at going back to 32 qualifiers, and play the title games on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.

In reading up on the recommendation to move the FCS playoffs back a week, it seems there may be resistance due to the semifinals being on or near Christmas. The NCAA would be trading (hopefully) better attendance for the eight first round games for lower semifinal crowds, as well as less tv exposure for those two games occurring during the glut of early FBS bowls.

That being said, if the IHSAA had a chance to restore the field to 32 (which would please the IFCA) I think they would jump at the chance to regain the revenue from those 96 first round games.

Yes, I read the same things, however I don't think it would hurt attendance numbers for FCS semifinal games, Fargo is going to sell out no matter when the game is, and I think the number gained for the first round by doing this would greatly out number the total lost in semifinal revenue.
