Playoff Predictions!

Hinton will not make the playoffs. The math doesn't work in their favor. The best total they can have is +51 (7.3)
South Winn and Belmond-Klemme will both be higher. One of those teams will be a wildcard.
Wilton or Sigourney would have to beat the other by 17+ in their week 9 game to reach 51.

I think it is quite possible that SK will beat Wilton. However, I don't think either team will win by more than 17. Either Wilton or SK will be in on a 2nd place. So if the loser loses by more than 17 are you saying they are out?
Very valid points and you most likely will be correct with B-K and South Winn making the playoffs unless for some odd reason one would lose this week. That's why they are predictions. Based mainly off of record and an upset happening here or there and to create conversation. Thanks for the reply and you have definitely done your homework.

I think WB is right on here. No way Hinton gets in unless there are some huge upsets. Sorry Core3. Your rankings and playoff predictions lose merit when you don't do your homework. WBFollower and USF have done theirs it looks like. No surprise as they seem to be a couple of the most knowledgeable guys on the board.

To each their own opinion and I understand yours. I just based my predictions off of records and upsets that could happen Week 7 & 8. I also just look at who I feel is the better team if they were to play head to head even though that does not come into play. I look at the points going into the last week to try and get the most accurate prediction. Again they are predictions and something to start a conversation, which it has. Could I be wrong, absolutely. Could I be way off absolutely. Could I be close, who knows. Lots of takes on the playoffs.

I put a little time and effort into it, using something known as mathematics and probability. I don't predict upsets. If those happen, it's a very low probability. There's really no need to consider something that has less than a 1% chance of happening and making that big of a difference.

Actually, even if they lose by 17 they have a chance of getting in. Probably would have a + 51 differential. That's the only way he might have a chance at getting in. I still think Maquoketa Valley as a really good chance as well

I am glad you did your homework, props to you! Are your points all valid, absolutely. Are these called predictions, yes they are. Is there a perfect way of doing it, nope. Could your be more accurate in this class than mine, very well could be. You are right the possibilities are minimal for lets say South Winn to lose by that much or them to even lose this week. However it is not out of the realm that they could lose. I mean Hinton gets beat this week then they are clearly out. I made the predictions this week, just like I will next week. They are called predictions and some times they are far fetched but it gets people talking. I did them to create conversation positive or negative. It is good to hear all opinions and shows that I could easily be incorrect. I appreciate the feedback and it is very insightful.
I don't see most of these happening. A lot of extra travel with these pairings!!
This would suck for Western Christian.

Wow, you usually save your excessive jackwagon approach when dealing with Regina or the multiple move ins that WB gets, glad you can expand your repertoire. Perhaps cutting the guy some slack would be a decent thing to do.
You would be challenged to find a time where I went after you, blame etc in a manner like you did. But if it makes you feel good to think that rock on.

Pleasantville's only shot is as a wild card. Best possible district finish is 3rd.
Well, I don't think that is completely true if I understand the tie breakers correctly.
If WG loses to Pella Christian (certainly a strong possibility of this happening) and Pleasantville beats Central Decatur (also likely) and I35 beats Mt Ayr (this is probably the game with the least certainty), then there would be a 3-way tie for 2nd place. Since WG, Pleasantville and I35 would have all beaten each other, the tie would be broken by the 17 pt tie breaker averages.
Currently, WG has 55 pts, Pville has 46 pts and I35 has 30 pts, so a loss by WG of 9+ pts and a win by Pville by at least 2 pts would give Pville the highest point total no matter what I35 wins by...so Pleasantville would be the 2nd place team and WG would have to hope for a wild card, which is probably unlikely for WG. (...and there are certainly other combinations of points between the two that would give Pleasantville 2nd place but just trying to keep it fairly simple.)
However, if I35 loses, then WG would be 2nd since they beat Pleasantville and Pleasantville would be a pretty strong candidate for a wild card if they win by at least 17 as they would have a point total of 63 (Avg = 9.0)
Finally, upsets happen so obviously if WG wins that dramatically changes things as they would be district champs and PC would be the 2nd place team. If Pleasantville loses and WG loses and I35 wins, then I35 is 2nd because they beat WG. Lots to be decided!
