Playoff Prediction Game

I stole this from the class A thread figured it'd be fun for us to do 8 man predictions. A little background on how the playoffs work. I will present the games below as per the IAHSAA.org website. As per usual, please let me know if anything is missed or incorrect. You have until 6:55 PM on Wednesday to make your picks. For the playoffs, I am going to introduce the double down. For the First three rounds you will have the option of doubling-down on two games. You can mark these by putting and asterisk or a DD next to the pick, just something to let me know that it is your choice. For the double down, a correct pick means you will double the points available that round. So for round one, a double down pick nets you two points. However, an incorrect double down nets you a loss of double points. Again for round one, an incorrect double down subtracts two points. Remember, a normally missed game means you lose nothing. Each round has a different point value on games; please find the point values below. I will keep track of everyones record I just ask keep them in same order as I present them so little easier for me. Also don't forget to asterisk your 2 double downs.

First Round - 1 pt
Second Round - 2 pt
Quaterfinals - Confidence system 7-5-3-1 that way 16 pts awarded
Semis - 8 pts
Championship - 16 pts

That way every round is worth 16 pts.

Quarterfinals can do the double down for 2 games last of the double downs.

Two games I went back and forth on were the Stanton @ Lamoni game and the West Central @ N-K game. I could see these games going either way, but I went with the home teams there.
 
I think Lamoni will roll Stanton in their game. I honestly about picked that game as my double down. Stanton played well enough to get to the playoffs and won some games at the right time in an average at best district. I have seen them play once this year and here I sit wondering how that is a playoff team still really. Not bashing the Vikings at all because they won the games they needed to win to get in but I just dont see them pulling that one off. The Northwood and West Central game you and I are in agreement. I had a tough time picking that one. Should be a great 2v3 matchup.

Hawks I forgot to ask, from the quarterfinals on, do we have to pick the matchups right as well since it will turn into a bracket and since it sounds like the state is still setting matchups at the dome rather than making a pre-set bracket or do we just need to have the winners? Might be tough if we make it a bracket from then on as we might have our two picked state title game teams meet in the semis and we only get one shot at picking the title team.
 
Hmmm I don't know how we want to do it. Based on his thing lets say I take a team like Kee first round they lose. I now cannot use the team they lost to because I didn't pick them? Do we want to do it that way or just I post the match ups every week and we select winners and still do the double down? Either way works for me. I don't know how that bracket thing would work I just copied and pasted it I don't think we will do that. So its either clean slate every week add up your totals each week or if you pick a wrong team you can't pick the winning team from that point on since you didn't have them advancing a lot like the NCAA tourney?
 
Here is my 2 cents worth. I think it would be fun with the quarterfinals on to the final game to do it based on confidence points. For example you have your 4 games and you pick them based on your confiendence 1, 2, 3 and 4 with 4 being the most confident and 1 being the least. You could still do your double down as well but only on like one game in the quarters and semis on the confidence points (so if you did it on 4 points and they won you would then get 8, or if they lost you would get -8). That is what I would do but this is your game not mine so you can do what you feel you would like to do.
 
switched it the quarters we will do the confidence system. If you predict a wrong game you cannot use them moving forward like NCAA tourney. So for example if you take Don Bosco to lose first round and they win you can't use them rest of the time.
