Best RPI Grouping:
1 Bellevue vs 16 South Hamilton
7 Wilton vs 9 Osage

2 SCC vs 15 Underwood
8 Treynor vs 14 Mount Ayr

3 Van Meter vs 13 West Lyon
6 West Sioux vs 11 I-35

4 PC vs 10 West Branch
5 DNH vs 12 Mediapolis

What I believe it will actually look like:
1 Bellevue vs 12 Mediapolis
7 Wilton vs 10 West Branch

2 SCC vs 9 Osage
5 DNH vs 16 South Hamilton

3 Van Meter vs 11 I-35
4 PC vs 14 Mount Ayr

6 West Sioux vs 15 Underwood
8 Treynor vs 13 West Lyon

I can definitely see either of these happening. not terrible drives for either team and keeps the top teams separated.

Some good work...I would just say that based on what the IHSAA has said in the post-season manual, I would guess they will do everything they can to for sure split up the Top 4 RPI teams (so having VM and PC in the same quad if they both finish in the top 4 would pretty much go against the IHSAA own post-season manual) and then they will try to get at least some balance after that. But who really knows what the IHSAA will do, but fun to guess. Nice work!

Where are those seeds coming from? In terms of seeding, being a district champ doesn't matter, right? The seeding is simply based on RPI I thought, with district champs simply being an automatic qualifier.

It most likely won't be "true" seeding based on what the IHSAA has written in the post-season manual:
"All attempts will be made to create as close to a “true” bracketing format using the RPI to seed to the first two rounds. Geography will be the final factor when creating brackets."

So who really knows how it will all pan out, but should be interesting. :)

The seeds are based off of RPI, which is what the IAHSAA has set as the standard. Being a District Champion absolutely matters. I also took into consideration geography which is also in the standards.

How does being a district champ matter? Other than being at home for the first round. That’s my question.

After re-reading the post season manuals, highest RPI in the quarterfinals is home field. So I’m not sure how the actual seeding will go. Untested Waters!!!

Being a district champ is great for the first round bc you get to host except for the lowest district champ. After that it goes bun RPI. So you could be a district champ playing on the road at a runner up bc their RPI was higher

Ok, so being a district champion only matters for purposes of playing at home in the first round? Outside of that, there is ZERO seeding advantage, meaning a district champ will not receive a higher seed simply because they are a district champ. Am I understanding this correctly?

Sorry, not arguing with anyone but just trying to understand how this is going to work out, because unclear state being unclear is unclear (what else is new).

As far as I know RPI is used to determine who will host in the quarters and who will be the home in the semis and the finals

Does anyone know when they will announce the playoffs?

If it is like past years, a list of the qualifiers will hopefully be posted by midnight at the latest.

The brackets probably won't be posted until some time very, very early Saturday morning most likely.
