I thought someone mentioned that a major hill was removed from the course. That still makes it a slower course? Was there a long downhill on the other side of the removed hill?
No doubt about it, it was certainly hot. I was impressed with how most managed the heat though. I didn't see too many casualties.

It may take some time to determine to be sure ... many athletes expressed joy that "Big Bertha" was removed, but that "major hill" is in fact about 20 feet long, though very steep ... with that hill removed however the additional loop that requires completion has a much longer hill to climb with a quarter mile to finish
Two of the flattest portions of the coarse are now gone, it is a constantly changing course in terms of elevation now ... it is possible that the additional down-hills following up-hills do in fact make the course faster. Time will tell the story.
