So big game this week! any injuries for either team? How is Carlisle's QB is he back yet?

I am going with Carlisle 24-21.

The QB who started the season before being injured is back, but he nows plays WR. He lost the job to the guy who replaced him. The new QB throws the ball well and seems to run the offense very well. Carlisle has been scoring lots of points. I think Carlisle's biggest problem will be stopping Pella's offense. Carlisle's defense has done well, but I'm not sure how well they stack up against the Dutch. Carlisle will score on Pella's D, but I don't think they can score enough to win this game. Pella averages 9.4 yards per carry through 5 games. That ain't bad.

Pella's big starting LT has also been out the last two games on offense. He will be back for this game.

I know comparing scores can only take you so far, but here they are:

Carlisle 24 DCG 27 (OT) Pella 45 DCG 14
Carlisle 14 Norwalk 7 Pella 38 Norwalk 14
Carlisle 51 Knoxville 28 Pella 28 Knoxville 0

Last week's beatdown of Ballard was very impressive by Carlisle. They should have lots of confidence and fire coming into this game. Those two running backs are impressive also. Obviously, either team can win this game and it should be a good one. Pella is a momentum team. If they can get you down in first half then the boulder can pick up steam quickly and the game can get out of hand quickly. I don't know the scoring breakdown this season, but Pella has owned and dominated the second quarter against everyboy they have played. If Carlisle can make it a 4 quarter, one score game, then they can certainly pull this off. Things went so well for them last week though that you wonder if they spent all the good karma they had coming.....

I'd pick Pella in any conditions, but I think Carlisle will have to throw some to put up many points. And this wind / weather isn't going to help that cause.

Great game last night. I have to eat my words as the Carlisle defense played very well. Pella had 1 yard of passing. They did run for about 200 yards, but Carlisle ate up the clock in the first half. Pella's only score in the first half was a fumble return for a td. Was a hard fought, hard hitting, clean game. Not much for flags last night.

Carlisle's QB threw the ball well. They had a nice gameplan in that they did quick passes that were effective. They also put so much pressure on a defense with those two stud RB's. Erb is difficult to corral. I heard he ran 28 times for 72 yards, but he probably should have been held to about 50. He can really make people miss. Pella's D did a nice job keeping them out of the end zone and just giving up 2 fg's. Carlisle got inside the 10 twice in the first half and missed a couple of other golden opportunities with dropped passes, one in particular where the receiver had nobody within 15 yards of him on about the 5 or 10 yard line and the poor kid dropped it. But, Pella made some big plays when it counted and walked out with the victory.

These two teams may see each other again in the post-season. That wouldn't surprise me a bit, but it would probably be at Pella next time. I can see how Carlisle dropped the bomb on Ballard last week, they are really good. Pella has another tough road game this week as they travel to Newton (non-district). Pella and Carlisle will finish 1-2 in the district. Carlisle finishes with three games (Saydel, Chariton, Osky) in which they should roll.

fmclonefan.....just curious.......are you related to the Carlisle quarterback? I have yet to see a post by you that doesn't sing his praises. Yet no comment when he was 0 for 8 in the first half against Norwalk. And in this post you say he threw well and for the most part he threw fine. But he also threw two interceptions into double coverage and could have thrown three more. And that fumble you mention so casually that was returned for a TD was by him. Also, in an earlier post you put that the senior was back but lost his job. That is incorrect. The senior suffered his third concussion in the span of a year. He went to the coach and asked to move to wr(less concussion risk) because he wanted to stay on the field and contribute. I'm sure how good the other qb is made the decision easier but those are the facts.

Am I related to him? Seriously? I know he threw for a ton of yards against Knoxville and threw some nice passes last night as I was at the game. I have no way of knowing the QB situation other than the former starter is at WR and this kid is now the QB. Are you related to the former starter? I know that his passing is what kept Carlisle moving the ball many times last night. If you haven't noticed I'm not much for putting down kids who are out there giving it what they got. Sorry if I inadvertently struck a nerve...

By the way, I was sitting on the visitors side in my green stadium chair, so I am no Carlisle homer.

3 concussions in 1 year?

Has he seen a neurologist to clear him to continue to play football?

Yes. The two last year knocked him out for the season. Fortunately, this one was minor. It occurred in game one vs. DCG and caused him to miss game #2. He followed the protocol completely and was cleared. However, given this history his family and the player asked to move to wr to lessen the risk. He is a 4.0 student who is ranked #1 academically in his class but he wanted to continue to play so this was the compromise. So far, so good. The qb has played very well overall and the senior has done well at wr with an 80 yard td reception vs. Norwalk, some other receptions, and a 50 yarder vs. Ballard that was called back due to a hold. Best of all, he has avoided injuries. He would return to qb, however, if Pierce was injured.
