Might be one at Centennial when Jerry Pezzetti steps down. But it looks like the fix is in and his son the co-coach will be his replacement. Gotta love those hereditary coaching spots!

Heard a rumor that Hanks was considering stepping down over at Des Moines North. But that's just a rumor.

Might be a quiet year on the coaching carousel.

You make it sound as though Ryan Pezzetti hasn't earned the job....He has spent more time as an assistant and co-coach than most any other coach in the state. Jerry wont be done for another 2 years so dont get too carried away.

How long as he been the co-head coach? Cause Remmert has been the "co" head coach with Mitchell at Cedar Falls for a long time

I think he's only had the label of "Co-HC" for a couple years now, maybe a year or two before the split took place. How anyone could say he isn't deserving is beyond me. He's learned from probably the winningest coach in Iowa HS Football history and they have the coaching roster at Centennial that could rival that of some D3 colleges.

I did hear yesterday that Ankeny Hawks posted a position for an assistant HC for varsity football.

don't know him...

I do in general have a problem with the idea that because someone learned from so and so they're the choice.

Now, if you told me that he can reach kids, on and off the field and be the kind of leader / mentor that they need and build those relationships with them and in the community, etc... then fine.

But to me, just because you were an assistant coach or learned from someone or on a great staff should not make you the clear cut choice. That to me, should be reserved for the best guy for the kids/players.

Now, if its one and the same, great. Like I said, I don't know him, so am not trying to cast doubt on him or what he can or can't do. Just saying. I think more "should" go into a hiring than whether or not he's learned from someone or is from the area, etc. Those are nice, but to me, they'd be second place. I'd like someone I felt was going to help the young men (or women) on and off the field first. Be it a 20 year coaching vet or some 1st year rookie.

He teaches at the middle school and is also the middle school track coach. He is phenomenal at relating to the kids and if you've ever spend any time with around him or Jerry you would quickly understand that the kids best interest is their #1 priority not just winning. Every single kid that walks in the weight room while Jerry and Ryan are in there gets asked questions on a personal level. It's rarely about football and almost always about how the school work and home life is going. Great guys IMO
