Well now that this week is in the books, lets talk about this important district 3 matchup between Columbus and Oelwein? What are your guys thoughts on this game?

Oelwein all the way. If you look at the NFV Oelwein game right away NFV came out flat which could have ended badly for them but they cameout strong in the second quarter. I feel colombus will come out flat and oelwein will come out on top

well, from the stand point of the programs, I might say Oelwein needs it more. After the Sailors, the Benton game on paper looks like the only other chance for a win this season with New Hampton and CPU possibly being a bit above them and then they might have a shot at Waukon who seems down.

If quick stats is to be believed Oelwein is on a 24 game losing streak. While Columbus hasn't had that much success recently, Oelwein's probably more desperate for a win. I know Columbus has a new coach this year, so IDK.

Whomever wins guarantees themselves not having a goose egg and the other team... might be in a long year. but then again, maybe not. you just never know.

Oelwein looked very good in the first half against NFV. They were leading 14-13 mid-way through the 2nd quarter. If they play like that against Columbus, I'd give them the nod to get their first win of the season.

Both teams are improved from last year, so it should be a good game.

NH and CPU "Possibly a bit above them"? Lol

Well thank God South Winn way above them and also in 1A as they easily handled New Hampton. Lots of season left. Picking Oelwein in this game...but you never know.

I don't exactly know what this means but NH and CPU would run circles around Benton Community. No "possibly" about it.

they could be improved and I'm sure Oelwein is, but they also moved down to 2A with enrollment, right? Not that there aren't good teams, etc... but just saying. Playing people of similar size of enrollment, etc... might also help their cause

I don't see the move to 2A as a step down. If you look at the 3A District Oelwein would have played in, there are 2A District 3 teams that are beating (in some cases by a lot) those teams (IE. NFV vs Decorah & Independence). Bottom line is that they are improved, but still have a way to go.

Their move may have actually made their schedule tougher, especially with teams like Decorah and Crestwood experiencing down years. The difference between 2A and 3A at most levels is minimal.
