I'll also post some scores as they come in. Big game on TV tonight between Waverly and Independence.

Dub. Wahlert 48, Maquoketa 35 in the third in a wild game with school passing records being eclipsed by the Eagles. 5 TD passes by Osterberger and 4 TD catches by McDermott.
Now trick play by Cardinals for at 48- 41 score in favor of Wahlert Eagles.
Tied 48- 48 in the 4th. Wahlert recovers fumble as Maquoketa was ready for a score.
Maquoketa leads 55- 48. Cardinals led by Cannon Coakley, sophomore quarterback who has five TDs in the second half. Maquoketa wins 55-48 and Wahlert moves to 0-8.

A lot of interesting outcomes tonight. All but three of the districts are all wrapped up:

Sergeant Bluff-Luton has won D-1
Carroll has won D-2 (although they had to come from behind against Humboldt to do it)
Solon has won D-6 and remains undefeated
Oskaloosa has won D-7
Norwalk has won D-8 (like Carroll, they had to come from way behind and beat Ballard in OT)
Lewis Central has won D-9 and remains undefeated

In D-3 Waverly-Shell Rock made a statement by shutting out Independence. Their only hopes of sharing a district title, though, lie with Independence knocking off Decorah next week.

In D-4 Xavier remains undefeated, but they still have to beat Marion next week to clinch the district. A Marion win could mean a 3-way tie (Western Dubuque made their own statement thrashing Marion tonight).

Speaking of statements, North Scott put a whooping on previously undefeated Clear Creek-Amana in D-5, but they still need to beat Assumption next week to clinch (an Assumption win could bring a 3-way tie).

And while it had no playoff implications, being a game between winless teams, Maquoketa and Wahlert Catholic had a wild one in Dubuque. Wahlert led by a bunch early, with Bryce Osterberger throwing for 360 yards in the first half, but Maquoketa managed to come all the way back thanks to turnovers and won 55-48 (forcing another turnover at the end near the goal line when Wahlert was about to tie it up).

Thoughts on the night.

Sergeant Bluff is a very good football team. I would say if they got paired with LC again, I think they have a very good chance of beating them. It's hard to beat the same team twice. They were dominant tonight. Hats off. Top 3 team in the state.

Xavier is really solid. Best team in the state in my opinion. Until proven otherwise, they hold the position. Their defense is strong.

North Scott sent a statement to the state. They are here to compete for a championship according to my sources. Enough said.

Humboldt was a penalty away from changing the playoffs dramatically. They took the lead with under two minutes to go... But it was brought back on a holding call. Carrol with the win. 15th and 16th RPI exhaled.

Western Dubuque made a statement tonight. Big win.

Harlan, you don't want to play them. They are salty and tough. Great football team.

LC was lackadaisical and did not play well according to my sources in their win over Glenwood. They played poorly and were fortunate to come out with the win. Based on there performance tonight there are three teams better than them. The let down was disappointing. Not impressed. They may be reading their newspaper clippings too much.

Is CCA for real? I don't know.

Playoffs and state pairings should be interesting!

The score was 42-14? What would the score have been if they did play well?

No kidding
And in a rematch SBL would beat the team they lost to 49-14 with a running clock lol
Wonder how good that 2a team that was drubbing SBL until qb got hurt is ? They would probably beat LC too, maybe even Alabama.

Been saying it, it's Xavier, LC, North Scott, SB, Western Dubuque, Solon.

lewis central was actually outplayed by glenwood, but nott the score

The Rams (4-4, 1-3) outgained L.C. 339-286, held a huge time-of-possession advantage and had 17 first downs to the Titans’ 13. But Lewis Central (8-0, 4-0) held at least a two-score lead from the middle of the second quarter on, clinching its seventh straight postseason appearance and 13th in all as the district champion.

Not sure how to interpret your logic behind being outplayed post. Decided to look at the stats online and noticed Glenwood ran 66 plays and gained 339 yards to LC 29 plays for 286. 66 plays 14 points, 29 plays 42 points is not a lot to gauge the validity. Please provide specifics on the game.

yea..but glewood had the ball , time possession, was a lot bigger that lewis central...u got to give them credit.,,they played probably as good as anyone against lewis central......there is no doubt lewis central is very good

Interesting lot there - all but Solon and SB use to be 4A.

Xavier was never 4A by size, though ... they played a 4A schedule because that was the only way they could be a member of the MVC. If you add Cedar Valley Christian to Xavier's enrollment (and I don't know if they're officially combined for BEDS purposes or not), they'd be about 55th, right behind Waverly-Shell Rock and close to Oskaloosa's enrollment. Without CVC's numbers, they're 60th.

Lewis Central and Western Dubuque have been at that upper 3A/lower 4A enrollment for a while now, North Scott too. If 4A included the largest 48 teams this year, all three would have been in 4A.
