AD's & Head Football Coaches-
The football schedules for the 2014 and 2015 football seasons will be released tomorrow morning, Friday, March 7, a little after 8 AM.

Please make sure if you are on the website prior to 8 AM that you hit the "refresh" button on your browser every 30 seconds or so, so that you will see the schedules when 8 AM actually occurs. If you are on the website prior to 8 AM and do not hit that "refresh" button, you will never see the schedules.

Here are a few bits of information for you regarding the scheduling process.

3. All 276 schools entered a non-district priority list. 8 player schools, due to the limited number of opponents available had their non-district games selected for them by the IHSAA Of those 276 schools, 274 schools got at least one of the teams they had on their non-district priority list.
4. In addition, of those 276 schools, 266 got one of their top 2 choices that they asked for.
5. No team has 3 home or away games in a row.
6. Due to facility issues and sharing of facilities, it became increasing difficult to create some schedules in which during the first two weeks of the season, teams had one home game and one away game. Several schools will start off the season with either home games weeks 1 and 2, or away games weeks 1 and 2. If you are home weeks 1 and 2, week 3 will be on the road, if are away weeks 1 and 2, you will be at home week 3.

How to find your schedules:
1. Go to the home page on our website: www.iahsaa.org
2. You will then go the member school link on our website: http://www.iahsaa.org/ information/member-school- link/
3. Use the drop down box to find the name of your school
4. Type in your school password
5. At the bottom of your "Home Page" you will see two links:
A. Your 2014-2015 FB Schedule
B. All 2014-2015 FB Schedules
6. Click on the first link to see your schedule for the next two years. The month and day should be present, along with whether it is home or away (@) . Please note that a few Class 3A schools will required to play Thursday night contests if you have Assumption, Davenport on your schedule. The same may be true for any school playing a Davenport school or a Sioux City school due to the sharing of facilities.

Please see the attachment for an image of what your homepage will look like.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good luck tomorrow morning as schedules are released.

Dowling Catholic opens both the 2014 and 2015 season against Cedar Rapids Xavier.

This is brilliant for both programs, assuming the association only counts district games in seeding for state playoffs. The biggest football rivalry in the state for 45 years was Dowling Catholic vs. Sioux City Heelan before the CIML ruled that you could not play games outside the CIML in 1991.

With Dowling and Xavier playing in last season's Class 4A state championship game, I think this has great potential to be a big rivalry. It will never surpass the Dowling-Valley rivalry but it could be one of the state's biggest rivalries.

It had been rumored for a while, but Ames and Iowa City High will play a home-and-home the next two years, with the games being played on the eve of the Iowa-Iowa State games.

I admit I was a bit surprised to see Dowling-Xavier on the schedule. Should be a pretty good 3A-4A matchup. Does Dowling play their home games at Valley's stadium?

The Dowling fans will be unpleasantly surprised by Xavier's visitor accommodations/parking/driving situation in 2015, I bet.

The Xavier-Regina matchup is very interesting, and something I was kind of hoping for. What do you think the hype will be if Regina's winning streak is still alive next October 17 when they play at 3A Xavier?

It's also interesting that Xavier has zero Cedar Rapids opponents, zero MVC non-district opponents (just Wahlert), and zero public school non-district opponents. I was pretty much expecting Benton or Vinton-Shellsburg might have shown up there somewhere.

Screwloose,
I think Ottumwa and Marshalltown scheduled well in non-district. There are no long road trips for a change. Ft Dodge has a great non-district slate for their location. I see Assumption hasn't been shunned by their former MAC opponents. It seems like all the 4A schools that had distance issues, for non-district or conference games in the past, in the former CIML or MRAC, have taken care of that situation, with either one or two 3A games. The Burlington/Ft Madison game makes sense also.

Yes, Dowling Catholic typically plays their home games at Valley Stadium and when it isn't available they play at Drake.

What's the deal with Xavier not being able to pick up any CR or MVC teams? There has to be a good story and explanation?

Cedar Rapids schools all came together and said they refused to play Xavier..oh well Xavier has better non district opponents because of it. They are facing the top two programs in the state in Dowling and IC Regina

Assumption and Regina are better than ICWest, City High, CR Kennedy, CR Wash? Interesting...

Xavier, Cedar Rapids 2014 Schedule:

08/29 @Dowling Catholic, West Des Moines (Xavier L)

09/04 @Assumption, Davenport (Xavier W)

09/12 Solon (Xavier W)

09/19 @Central Clinton, DeWitt (Xavier W)

09/26 Maquoketa (Xavier W)

10/03 Epworth, Western Dubuque (Xavier W)

10/10 @Wahlert, Dubuque (Xavier W)

10/17 Regina, Iowa City (Xavier W)

10/24 Marion (Xavier W)

I expect Assumption and Solon will be solid opponents for Xavier. Regina, too, although a two-class difference is pretty big, numbers wise. I wouldn't be chalking those up as sure W's at this point.

Xavier returns only one starter on defense and only two on offense, plus their record-setting kicker/punter has graduated. Kicking off the season with Dowling, Assumption and Solon while trying to break in 19 new starters is going to be a big challenge.

Xavier has depth (quality depth) from last year that saw enough play time to be competitive (with any 3A team) out of the gate. By the time they play Regina, Xavier will be well oiled.

I would be surprised if CR schools shunned Xavier, especially Kennedy. Whatever happened, I have to give the state props on Xavier's schedule. Some very interesting matchups. If Regina remains undefeated until week 8, wow, it will be the most hyped non-district game this state has ever seen. Can't wait.

Shun is a poor choice of words IMO. The CR-Metro school AD's all made the determination that they wanted to only play 4A schools. Xavier decided they didn't want to be 4A anymore, therefore they are no longer playing a CR-Metro team.

Agree they have to break new kids in!

But they seem to have a way of getting kids ready too play.

Interesting that they put the Catholic schools together on the east side. Setting up something for 2016? Don't get the wrong I think it's great and will prepare Xavier for Districts and the Playoffs.

I agree with you Rembrandt. First glance at Xavier's schedule got me thinking if that the state will be watching their season very close and "collecting their data" on the private vs public debate for changes in 2016. We will get to see how the private school power houses on the eastern side of the state compare to all classes. We will see Xavier play Dowling week 1 and then Xavier play Regina week 8. By comparing the outcomes of those 2 games, someone could make comparisons on how well Regina would compete in any class. You also get to compare how Xavier competes against 4 private schools vs how they compete against 5 public schools. That district is loaded and it will be fun to see how Xavier's season goes

Thank you. At least the State took my idea and made it a reality.

Dowling always plays Valley at Drake Stadium when Dowling is the home team. Dowling has also played a couple of games a season at Drake when the crowd is expected to be too large for a high school stadium.

With Xavier being a two-hour drive for most Xavier fans, I highly doubt Dowling will play Xavier at Drake.

I think you might underestimate the support that Xavier has - they will show up. Most if not all 3A venues that Xavier travels too will be 3A\2A size stadiums. Regina will need to bring in about 10 more bleacher sections for the visitor side.

Not really. I'm sure Xavier and Dowling Catholic have two of the best traveling fanbases.

Still, Drake Stadium is a 2-hour drive from Xavier. Dowling has only played one home game at Drake the past couple of seasons (it used to play 2 or 3 home games at Drake in the past).

Dowling also has Waukee and Des Moines Roosevelt on its home schedule this year. Dowling only beat Waukee by 5 points in last fall's 4A quarterfinals and both teams return the bulk of their starters and Roosevelt plays all its home games at Drake.

Unless Xavier requested to play at Drake Stadium as part of its scheduling agreement, I highly doubt the game will be played at Drake. Valley Stadium (Dowling's other home stadium) is the biggest high school stadium in Iowa, so that's not much of a letdown.
