I know the board will dry up soon. Before it does, how does everyone's team stack up for next year? Would be interesting to hear. I looked a bit through the program and as far as dome-bound teams this year, Pella Christian seems to return the most. Please post your "way to early" predictions for next year.

I think it is hard to say with the changes that are coming to classifications. It will be a lot easier to make predictions once classifications are set. As for Van Meter not being in 1A I doubt that their enrollment number should be around 170 which should be in 1A.

Not a reclass due to enrollment increase or decrease. VM already does some athletic sharing with an old rival of ours. This had to do with the feasibility of expanding that relationship to include football.

A team that needs to be watched next year is Dike-New Hartford.
They will be coming down from 2A and have more coming back then anyone.
Lost a couple of games early with a very young team, but really came on, losing to a very good New Hampton team 21-14 in the playoffs

Only had two seniors even listed on quick stats (all skill players back) for the New Hampton game.

After talking to someone from DNH, i know they are excited to drop down with their entire team coming back.

Will be a lot of good 1A teams next year.

West Sioux moving up after winning Class A state championship is another team to watch. Very impressive team.

Uh...Van Meter would have beat ADM by 30 points. No way they consider taking ADM under their wing just to help out a 3A program that stinks.

True. Really just looking to hear from teams and their outlook. Rebuilding, reloading, have everyone back, etc....

So both finalists in A might be moving up then. I'm hearing Hudson also. DNH is traditionally strong. This year is the most down I have seen them in recent history. They likely will be tough. Throw Cascade in to the mix and 1A on the east side looks pretty tough next year. NW Iowa fans, can/will West Sioux battle the likes of WC and WL? Who looks to be the premier team from the NW or West?

West Sioux loses their RB Lynott, which is a big loss. They keep their QB, Dekkers and their leading receiver, Koopmans. I don't know what they keep/lose on their lines. If they stay healthy, they have the talent to be very competitive in D1, I think their margin withstanding key injuries is less, as they would be one of the smallest 1A schools.

With West Lyon graduating 20+ Seniors, I think they'll be down a bit. Looking at Quik stats, you have to go down the list a ways to find any offense out of players not graduating. In fact, it appears as if the only players to catch a pass this year for West Lyon were Seniors. So, they'll probably be down to start the year but they are West Lyon and they still have Jay R. so they will certainly be solid by October.

Western loses a 3 year starter in Granstra. He did spend a lot of time injured this year so other kids gained very valuable experience in his absence. Overall, I think Western will be pretty average next year.

Emmetsburg returns a lot next season, although if we go to 6 team districts, I doubt they'll stay in D1. They got a lot of production out of Soph's and Jr's last year, and they were a competitive bunch. I think they'll surprise some teams next year.
