So what's the scoop on the Mustangs? Are they for real or was it only because Peppers went out early in the game? Also, what was up with the 0-3 start and now winning 4 straight? Did they have some key players out at the beginning of the season? They are very much alive to take first place in D1. It will be interesting to see how they fair the rest of the season and in the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure they're not for real.. The only do pretty good when that #12 kid gets moving.. I'm sure NF will NOT be making any crazy noise in the playoffs. Without Pepper Exira doesn't have anything. That's what they were able to beat them

I know their coaches always have them fundamentally sound. They usually always play solid defense but the offense coming alive the last 4 games has been a bit of a surprise

I wouldn't say they dont have anything without him. Sure they aren't the same team as they are when he is on the field but preperation makes a huge difference in how well teams play. It wouldn't have mattered if it was Peppers or whoever playing, if your best play who just so happens to be the QB goes down and you have to go to a backup who hasn't most likely been there all week practicing it makes a huge difference in what you can and can't do as a team. I would assume that if they played again the point margin would be much much closer due to the preperation time for the young man who has to step in there.

285 - NF lost every starter from last season. No players out, just inexperienced. They played a good WBM team in a monsoon in week 1, @HLP week 2 and @Boyer Valley week 3. All close games and had very good chances to win in weeks 2 and 3. No excuses though. Just didn't get the job done. They have been getting more confidence each and every week and it is showing on the field. Since I played and coached under Coach Wilken in the past I know he always has his teams fundamentally sound. Especially defensively. As for the offense, Wilken has always run the ball effectively. You being surprised is more so with the passing game. Im with you on that one. I think he is finally getting confidence in his passing game. He probly has the best "passing qb" he has ever had at NF. And that balance is what has showed on the scoreboard the past 4 weeks.

MM11- #12 is a very good player but I disagree with what you said. I'd say NF did pretty good against E-EHK. #12 had 15 rushes for 55 yds. Not bad but usually not the stats your looking for from your starting RB. E-EHK I'm sure saw what your thinking and did look to shut him down. Not a bad move if you ask me. So how did NF score so much? Dicks had 10 rushes for 176 yds 4 TDs and was 9-12 passing for 222 yds 3 TDs. I'd say they can do "pretty good" when someone else carries them.

High90 - I agree. E-EHK obviously just lost the best player in the state. Being thrown in the middle of a big game the back up qb looked a little nervous at first and had a couple turnovers but he is a very good athlete and pry has a better arm then Peppers. With a week of practice as the starter he will be fine. I wish I could make it to their game against BV is should be a good one.

It's definitely not fair to say Exira doesn't have anything without Peppers, but I do think it's fair to say they don't have anything that makes them special without him.

I agree with that statement. Without Peppers they really dont have that guy who is proven can help carry the load that left like they had last year in the other Peppers and Sander. We shall see if it was a one man show this week when they go up to Boyer Valley. If they get throttled then we will know. If they go up there and win it in big time fashion then I would have to change my stance a little on how far they go inthe playoffs, especially after reading that article yesterday in the Des Moines Register about Peppers possibly being back in time for playoffs. If Exira-EHK can take care of business and somehow find a way to win the district without him there these last two weeks, they will be a dangerous team come playoff time.
