My guessing turned out pretty close ... instead of my projection as the 3 seed, Western Dubuque actually stayed ahead of SBL for the number 2 seed. Harlan, who I had at 10, looks like number 8.

District winners marked with *; home teams in bold.

EDIT: I forgot that Lewis Central beat SBL, so move Lewis Central to the 3 seed and SBL to the 4.
  1. * Solon .6910
  2. * Western Dubuque .6852
  3. * Sergeant Bluff-Luton .6823
  4. * Lewis Central .6821
  5. * Norwalk .6775
  6. Xavier .6612
  7. * Pella .6517
  8. Harlan .6487
  9. * North Scott .6466
  10. * Dallas Center-Grimes .6449
  11. * Independence .6399
  12. Glenwood .6360
  13. Washington .6291
  14. Carlisle .6243
  15. Iowa City Liberty .5989
  16. Oskaloosa .584

The straight chalk bracket would be

EDITED TO CORRECT LEWIS CENTRAL/SBL

16 Oskaloosa at
1 Solon

8 Harlan at
9 North Scott
——
12 Glenwood at
5 Norwalk

13 Washington at
4 SBL
———
14 Carlisle at
3 Lewis Central

6 Xavier vs 11 Indee (can’t happen, neither can host)
——
10 DC-G vs 7 Pella (can’t happen, both hosting)

15 Liberty at
2 Western Dubuque

Could you just get away with Xavier at DC-G and Indee at Pella, and otherwise go straight seeding? (Probably not, as the state won’t be sending Harlan to North Scott, I bet.)

Even with playing on Fridays, I’m not sure forcing Harlan and Washington to drive four hours each way would be palatable to the IHSAA.

i like the idea of #1 playing #16, regardless of locations...will get the better teams in the finals.....though the rpi is not representing the best teams in my opinion. some teams having a better rpi, and definitely not the better than some with lower rpi.

Harlan could go to Norwalk, but an 8/5 game isn’t ideal. Maybe Harlan to DCG (8/10), with Indee to Pella (11/7) and Xavier to North Scott (6/9).
Hats off to you. Last week in conversation you had mentioned Oskaloosa and Grinnell potentially being side by side at #16 and #17. Had Grinnell pulled that game out (by not getting a PI call on a pick 6 and not Dropping 2 wide open TD passes) beating Pella the Final RPI would have been exactly as you implied and Grinnell would have been bumped by the side by side rule.
