It ended up Assumption 69, West Liberty 26 (Assumption actually extended their lead), so it may have been correct. This whole substate 4 is brutal. Powerful #1 seed Assumption, with seven or eight wins over 4A teams in the MAC Conference, is a mismatch for #8 seed, W.L., as were a lot of other #1 vs. #8s tonight across the state. Pella won by 50. The next two rounds on Tuesday and Monday will have good teams dropping like flies.

Not sure how LeMars over Storm Lake is upset of the night, or even an upset at all. LeMars beat them twice in the regular season, last time by 30. I'm also not surprised that Ballard beat Webster City. The postseason has shown time and time again that having a better record does not mean much if it is against weaker competition.

Not really surprised Fort Dodge lost. One of those deals where when the going is good it's good and when the going is bad you know your season is over kinda deals.

Someone please explain how the LeMars win was the upset of the night. LeMars beat them rather handily twice during the regular season. Last night was much of the same, after a fast start by SL, LeMars then came back and picked them apart just like they did the other two times this year. Upset? I don't think so.

Apparently Storm Lake's loss was not the upset of the night. Guess I got caught up in the comments of some posters and the fact that they lost to SC East by only a single point. I'm willing to have egg on my face. Most of my posts are to help keep the interest up for the folks who subscribe to this site, and get them involved in discussions. Heck, I'm 300 miles away from LeMars and Storm Lake. Pretty nice towns, though. Lived in the area back when dinosaurs roamed Earth. I do think that there is so much parity in the various classes that the next two rounds will cause major gnashing of teeth.

Shoot out a Gladbrook Reinbeck. GR 89 BP 75. Listened on radio. BP hung around with DeMuelnaire (sp)? scoring 34. GR had a little more balance. Fun game to listen to.

Worst defensive game for GR this year. DeMuelnaire was fun to watch. GR better clean it up if they want to get past wapsie for a trip to des monies.

I agree on that one. Wapsie was solid when I saw them play this year.
I was shocked at the Wapsie v AGWSR score last night. AGWSR gave GR two tough games this year. Wapsie was beaten up by some good teams in their conference. Jesup, AP, Dike are all good teams. They wont be scared of GR. If both teams advance, it should be a good game in cedar falls.

Rundquist plays a lot like Smoldt. Smoldt is a much better player at this point but that will be a fun matchup.

I think BP was probably better than they were given credit for. Four of their losses going in to the game against GR were against teams still playing. Twice to Montezuma, one in OT, once to Lynville Sully, and once to Lisbon. Fun listening to high scoring games on radio. The announcer was having a hard time keeping up.
