Minimize Blowouts...Go to....

I played 8 man football and I went to a very small 8 man school, BED of a little less than 80 and I have thought this for years now. I think we need a big and small 8 man class.

No. If you have a problem with the competive balance, lower the beds number for 8 man and make the bigger 8man schools go to A. Better yet, make a division for every school, so at the end of the year, everyone can be the champion of their own division and no feelings will be hurt.

You do realize that the bed numbers do include female students as well as male? And those schools are closing right and left. Not able to substain a viable school system.

I think this has been discussed already and no matter what is talked about their never will be a perfect moth of doing the class or any other class. Blowouts happen in every class if you look each week. It just so happens in 8 player that scoring is on average higher so the blowouts that happen are a little bit greater than they are in 11 player classes. There is no way around having blowouts.

Blowouts are going to happen there is no doubt. 50 point rule didn't stop em.... running clock didn't stop em. So here goes....I propose a rule similar to what happens in a lot of JV vs. Varsity basketball practices to make them more competitive for the varisty. Let the defense put more than 8 players on the field when the game starts to get out of hand. For instance, when a team gets up by more than 35 points the team that is behind is allowed to put one more player on the field ON DEFENSE ONLY. When the lead is more than 42 points they can put two more on defense only. This would also include punting situations. It may sound ridiculous, but not really any more ridiculous than other mercy rules that have been used over the years.

Armstrong-Ringsted's BEDs were in the high 70's when they had their 5 year run. There is no reason why the smaller schools can't be competitive.
