I pride myself on scouting players and teams very well and I just noticed an article talking about a player that I felt was already the best player for his school, but being a sophomore had seen little to no action at varsity prior to me watching him. Abe Kinrade from Maquoketa had played in 1 or 2 games coming into districts and I was assigned to scout Maquoketa and Mt. Vernon during the regular season. I watched Kinrade come in and make things look easy. Maquoketa was a struggling team last year and inconsistent as you see with many struggling teams. When Kinrade was on the floor against Mt. Vernon they were very solid and he seemingly couldn't miss and was a mismatch for any defender because his skills along with his height. They are a complete turnaround as far as record goes this year. They seemingly have learned and gotten much better from the hits they took last season. They were a very solid and respectable team considering the losses they took last year. Glad to see Kinrade and company thriving this year. Should be a tough out for anyone this year.
