No question the first game ( LC-Harlan) was not the Harlan we are used to seeing in Western Iowa. The question is will Coach Bladt, a tremendous coach, have the kids ready for round #2? I can assure you Lewis Central will take this game even more serious than the first. LC knows Harlan has something to prove-then again so does LC. Hopefully no downpours so we can see the full display of the athletes on the field doing their thing. any predictions??

well...this harlan team, lets see,, they will make 5-10 mistakes and penalities in this game., its in their game plan..it just happens harlan is blessed that that they are good enough to overcome their mistakes in most games. make a lot of mistakes against this lewis central team, they will burn ya if u do that...harlan is fairly good team , just too bad they have lewis central in the second round..i wish the state would have not had repeat district games until the 3rd round, or even the finals

lewis central 49 harlan 21

It’s going to be a great game. Both teams left points on the field in the first game. Harlan always gets better as the season goes on, they’ll be ready to go. They have nothing to lose and are expected to get beat. They will play loose. The problem is Lewis Central is playing better too. My guess is Harlan scores more points then the first matchup. I’ll guess 21. The difference in the game is going to be LC’s offense and there won’t be an answer for Duggan. Titans score 59. Unfortunately for Harlan, Duggan is coming off a rare poor first half performance and an overall less than satisfactory game. I imagine he’s going to be laser focused.

This game features two of the best quarterbacks in 3A. Expect Harlan to air it out just as they’ve done all season. It will make or break their success. Turnovers will play role and I’m predicting LC will intercept 2 passes, helping drive the score.

Harlan 21, LC 59

The first game Harlan answered right away, but then things got away from them. One of their tailbacks or receivers got his bell rung, went in the next play and could have walked in for a TD based on where the QB placed the ball ( northwest side of field) but flat dropped it. Felt bad for the kid. I thing physically LC has a lot to give. What's different about this game compared to some of Bladt's magical wins from the past, is the skill positions. Another difference is LC has played in the big Des Moines stadiums, been made fun of from being from Council Bluffs, and then went and outplayed the Des Moines crowd. The Harlan mystic is not what it was based on LC playing up at the 4A level. Just an opinion.

harlan has sort of lost their dominace they use to have, but they still seem to be playoff contenders most of the time...the one thing that might help harlan in this game, is when they played lewis central last time, they moved the ball on them very good in the 4th quarter....lewis central had their first team defense in, and harlan has lot of 2nd teamers going at it....the running back harlan has now that has replaced the starter, is very good soph..i think he was better than the starter, not sure why bladt did not start him this year...it will still be lewis central that advances

LC will win by 30. Harlan is just an average football team that could have lost in the first round. Oskaloosa played their worst game of the year and had their best defensive player and all state kicker ejected early in the game on a phantom call.

harlan is better than average, what are u smoking
Better than average 3a team but an average playoff team. They have nothing that leads me to believe they are a top ten 3a team. Their pass defense is not strong enough to stop Duggan.

true , does anyone in 3a

I believe Harlan is always a dangerous team because they never feel they are out of it. That is why LC takes them so seriously

Harlan 21, LC 59

Again, my Friday prediction for this game. Time will tell!

If Harlan assigns a defensive player to shadow LC's QB, they have a chance. Duggan will get his passing yards, but they can't allow him to run 100+ yards again.

Big upset tonight guys.

Harlan - 30
LC - 27

On a side note, this game is basically playing for the Class 3A state title. If LC wins, they will glide through the rest of the playoffs.

It'll be competitive for a while, but a QB spy isn't going to stop Duggan from running. Come on Dew... I think you're a little hyped up. This prediction is wishful thinking.

Haha.....that's Harlan's only chance.

Harlan's offense tries to, but so far has not been able to run with consistency. That will also be a main factor is how Harlan is able to keep things close.

Yup.....if the refs allow Harlan to have 15 guys on the field for defense...

well,.it would not surprise if the 35 second clock was ticking....everyone lc as played this year has had it

Thought this was going to be a great game the first time these two teams played. Only have seen Lewis Cental play. That being said not sold on them up front aside from Jones but have a lot of weapons offensively. Defense as a whole is under sized and and quick a down hill run team that could control the clock could hurt them, but that is not Harlan this season. Takes a huge effort to get to the Dome the first time and I think this one will be closer than how things look on paper, but if I was a betting man my money would be with Lewis Central in a close one

Couldn't agree with you more about the team it would take to beat LC. The key is the offense and not the defense because Max can't hurt you if he is on the sideline with his dad.
