Holy-cow some entertaining games last week around the Des Moines Metro, at the end of the night no doubt some people took a double take at the scoreboard. The entire playoff picture took a bit of a tailspin but that's football and life for that matter.

Congrats to Johnston on a huge victory over Waukee 31-18. Perry (Waukee 144 yds) & Studer ( Johnston 142 yds) both impressed. I also took note on the accuracy of Nord, the junior QB for Johnston, they don't throw a ton but when they do it's on target, 3 T.D.'s through the air with a high completion rate.

On the defensive side of the ball Hardy ( program shows as a Jr.) was all over the place for Waukee making plays, (nice night young man). As for Johnston, another Jr (Newcomb) not only is he a good tackler he had some nice stops for loss as well. Both teams will be tough draws in a week or so when the playoff begin. Fun Night, thanks boys!

Congrats also to Ank Cent. on a very impressive win Friday Night. I flipped a coin and ended up going to Waukee.

Best of Luck to everyone as you close out your season this week. To those going on to the playoffs congratulations.
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable final week of the regular season, I will be somewhere this Friday taking it all in.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, shingles are tough to get over. Quick question for you.
I remember last year you put together your " Top Players list" I have not seen that thus far this season?
Are you or will you put together one at the end of the season? It was fun to read last year and got some interesting/buzz going on here

Thanks, glad to say I am completely over the shingles and on with life.

To answer your question I will publish my Central/West Team in a few weeks. I was able to get out to a few games and will watch the playoffs. I have also been able to visit with a few assistant coaches I have meant over the last 2 years, always nice to get their perspective as stats alone don't always tell the story. Agree or disagree with my team(s) I'm at least glad you enjoyed it last year.

I also wanted to congratulate you on Heelan making the 3A playoffs. Should be a good match up with Harlan. Always good to have teams from throughout the state involved.
