I see Jerry Pezzetti is still the "Co-Head Coach" at Centennial. Why exactly is that? Is his son incapable of coaching on his own? Is it like a monarchy, and Jerry is Coach until he dies? I know he does a great job wandering the sidelines and yelling at the chain gang, but what is the point? Asking for a friend.

I can’t speak for Coach Pezzetti, but that’s not entirely unprecedented these days. Pat Mitchell continued as co-head coach of Cedar Falls from 2005-2013 alongside Brad Remmert, who eventually took over at CF after Pat Mitchell retired and eventually passed away. It seems to have made for a smoother transition after more than 200 years worth of combined coaching experience from Pat Mitchell’s coaching staff retired along with him.

You seem angry... is it because dowling got beat at home tonight by Jerry and Ryan?...again? Surprised you boys haven’t recruited a kicker yet tbh

Similar to Pat Mitchell, Jerry probably does more behind the scenes things that people do not realize have to be done by someone. Make no mistake Jerry stays around for a reason. Good for Jerry

Not angry. We enjoy playing the country schools. The playoffs will be fun this year.

And I’m sure the “country schools” enjoy playing Central Iowa’s Recruited All-Stars. Nothing says “team” like perennially harvesting starters from the greater metro area.

Centennial played a great game. That blocked punt by the transfer from SE Polk was impressive.

And there is nothing wrong with a kid wanting to go to a different school than his local public school.

#11 moved into the district after 8th grade. Try to draw parallels all you want chief, but the fact remains you guys blatantly recruit talent and Centennial does not. You’re angry and yelling about a legendary coach on the internet — you’re either the smartest or the dumbest poster on this board. At least you tried.

Centennial doesn’t allow open enrollment.
Well, the Ankeny school district allows open enrollment, and its usually an agenda item at every school board meeting listing the students under consideration. Are you saying Centennial does not?

All open enrollees go to Hawks. Centennial can't even get its own D coordinators kid .
Does he live in the Ankeny attendance area? I know Ankeny limits intra-district transfers, but see nothing in their policies about transfers from outside the district
  • The District, under limited circumstances, will consider a request for intra-district transfer under the following:
    • Resident students have filed a bona fide harassment and bullying complaint and there is an administrative determination that there are no other reasonable options within the current boundaries/feeder system for the student’s educational program. If a student’s open enrollment request is granted pursuant to this exception, then the student is eligible to participate in athletics or activities no later than 10 days from the date of enrollment.
    • Family members attending in another attendance center or feeder system if a student has been displaced due to #1 above or for the purpose of accessing special education services.

All outside transfers are placed at Ankeny High.
This is correct. If Helgeson's kids open-enrolled into the Ankeny District, they would have to go to Ankeny High. Students who open enroll into the district are not allowed to attend Centennial.
