The original question was addressing qualifications of a team captain for the all-state team. Though it was couched as based on individual statistics, I would argue the qualifications for a team captain goes beyond those and it's about carrying the team. So let's talk about the teams.
Per Quick stats:
Roster: Dowling - 86 with 95% are juniors and seniors. Centennial- 60 with 76% junior and seniors
Average upper classman weight - (not specific to starters or lineman) Dowling 197 pounds, (granted this is spread across 82 players and waters down the stats), Centennial, 191 pounds, across 46 players
Defensive and Offensive personnel: As someone noted ealier and due to the above, Centennial has a lot of players who play a full game (not just the QB). The physical and mental focus that is required to do this sucessfully is significant.
Both athletes are extremely talented, however it is what is accomplished with the available depth and breadth of personnel that matters. A 3-0 record for Centennial is not the same as a 3-0 record for Dowling.
It also needs to be said that analysis of the average of the first two quarter stats by athlete is somewhat short sighted, just ask Iowa. It's what happens in the fourth quarter, just ask ISU.
Cheers
