SC North almost beat the best team in the state. SCN was up by 3 after 1st and with only just over a minute left in the game was only down 6 points. Is SCN better that rest of the field or will ICW be challenged in every game. Can North Scott or Waukee beat the defending champs? Or will ICW get their feet under them and pull away from the rest of the teams they face on to their 4th in a row....?

SCN is far better than the 8th seed. I still think ICW will dominate the rest of the field. SCN didn't come out intimidated at all.

Dowling at state was a damn close almost.

The moral of the story is that IC West remains the favorite. If this game holds true, then a North Scott/Iowa City West semifinal game will be outstanding.

They pass the eye test have some name recognition have a really good coach but everything about these players is hype. Hawk coach kid is just another player , if he is starting at Iowa his dad will be assisting at Butler the follow year which he should be anyway.

You can win by an inch or you can win by a mile.... but a win is a win.

Still "defending" in the minds of many while in reality, still trying to make their own mark on the books.

It's always lonely at the top with few friends or those that would comfort after a loss.

Who wouldn't like to see Kentucky get knocked off by say..... UNI? With two Trojan alumni by the way.

McCaffery is currently 8th in 4A in assists (not counting today's game, which should bump him up to 5th), so he's definitely not "just another player." He's 6'5, smart with the ball, a solid shooter, and a good driver, I don't know what else you can ask for from a sophomore. McCaffery, Lohaus, and Parks all have D1 offers, and DiLeo and Lane both are receiving a lot of attention from colleges and are both expected to go D1. If the team was all hype, then they wouldn't be undefeated and looking to 4peat. West is the most well-rounded team in the state in my opinion.

1. Any team is beatable. Even Michael Jordan's Bulls lost games they weren't supposed to lose. IC West did what they needed to do. It wasn't in the fashion that anyone expected but they got the job done.

2. If IC West plays that way against North Scott they will lose.

3. Everyone wants to downgrade McCaffery because he is committed to Iowa and the coaches son.
Freshman year he was at 6.1PPG and 2nd in 4A for Assists with a LOADED team.
Sophomore year he is at 13.5PPG and 5th in 4A for Assists with a LOADED team.

The fact that he is now one of the primary players and scoring more means his assists are a little down this year.

With DiLeo leaving after this season it would be fair to expect him to scoring 18 or so next season. He could be looking at 20+ senior season. I would think Lane and others will improve as shooters, which will likely increase his assist totals.
