Bosco and MMC are definitely proving they are top 3! Glidden doesn't even play a top 10 team all season and the teams they have played have a combined record of 8-21. MMC has beaten good teams and teams they have played have a combined record of 8-21. Bosco has beaten HLV and the teams they have played have a combined record of 11-16.

One thing I fear about Bosco is that they haven't been in many close games in a while and alot of kids on the team don't know what it's like to be in a dog fight, I mean don't get me wrong they are a great team and should be ranked highly but come playoffs I'm not sure how confident I feel about them

What i don't think people realize is Bosco lost Svboda in first 2 minutes of the N-F game. They lost to last years state champs by 1 point with the running backs and qb's they have now. They return 5 out of 8 starters on offence and and 6 out of 8 on defence. I think it will be Newell vs Bosco in the end!

How is Boscos pass coverage this year, I know last year they struggled greatly when teams would pass, if they can fix that then I don't think they will have many close games but if not then they could be in a world of hurt if they play a team that likes to air it out you might be in for a good game!

Statistically the Dons pass defense looks to be improved. They held Dalton Kriegel who in some peoples opinion is one of the top quarterbacks to 12 passing attempts with 1 completion for -1 yards.

I would agree Glidden-Ralston has not played anyone yet but that is not their fault. They do face a solid team in CR-B this week, so it will tell some about G-R. I would say the way they are man handling all their opponents (277-8) and with almost everyone back from a team that was top 5-7 last year, I would say that is why they remain in the top 2-3. The west side will be very interesting come playoff time and how the state makes the match-ups.

I'm not sure I completely agree with you js33. Yes they do look better on paper ( statistically ) , but I was at the game and I saw HLV's receivers behind Bosco's DB's a few times Friday night. Luckily for Bosco Kriegel over threw them. The Dons are consistently getting good pressure on QB's and I'd say most of the time the DB's are in better position to make plays, but it's definitely an area I hope to see get better each week. Anytime a receiver is behind coverage it's something bad waiting to happen.

Glidden doesn't control their schedule, they just control how they do in those games. They have given up 1 touchdown the entire year. Regardless of competition 1 touchdown. I think they make a statement this week vs CR-B. Also how good is AR-WE-VA played with newell a bit. I know they run a spread offense did that just give Newell fits? Maybe MMC is a number 1 team based on schedule?

10. WBM - yes I know their record doesn't take away they are top 10 team when healthy which I believe they are now.

No just think the west is really strong this year. Bosco always represents the east well but I think after them most years there is a drop off.

I'm a pretty firm believer in BCMOORE rankings as well. I love the analytical side of rankings and those rankings tend to agree west is strong. Also look back at the finals yes I know its just finals but DB is only East school to make it dating back to 2007 and I stopped looking. So history tells us West is stronger why would this year be different?

So little more research Don Bosco only team east of I-35 to make it to finals ever for 8 man I do believe. I could be wrong but if my geography is correct then thats the case. So please explain your stance on the East.

I think Bosco is definitely the power of the east but i do think the west does provide better teams generally!

I will agree with you on this hawkeyepower. I think its been a proven fact over the last 5-10 years that the west (outside of Don Bosco) is much deeper year in and year out compared to the east. Look at how teams have done in the past 5-7 years from the east that have reached the Dome as these generally are your top level teams from their respective region generally. HLV 2014, Don Bosco 2012 (Championship game), Clarksville 2011, Tripoli 2010 and Preston 2009, all had fallen to western teams by no less than 3 scores. Not to discredit any of these teams as they were all good teams, just not the quality that comes from the western side is all.

Would anyone disagree, until someone other than Don Bosco makes a run in the playoffs and reaches the finals or wins a championship that the east will be considered an equal to the west?

Glidden plays crb this week so we will kinda see how good they are.

You all say G-R plays in CR-B this week so we'll see how tough they really are, but GTRA beat CR-B 38-6. Why do you think CR-B is a solid team too? They haven't beat anyone either.

CRB hasn't beaten anyone correct. They have however played two pretty good teams and played them to atleast decent games.

I would say they are solid because they have athletes that can make some big plays. Riley and Obert are talented skilled position players that in 8 man can change a game quickly. They lack size and with teams that pound the ball, they tend to be in trouble. CR-B needs big plays to stay in ball games or they will be in trouble. Examples: MMC three big plays and it's close till middle of the 4th but MMC is never stopped because they pounded the ball on the ground. GTRA doesn't give up the big plays and pounds it on the ground and rolls. I think GR wins pretty convincingly especially if they don't allow multiple big plays. I think it's GR's first real test because of the athleticism CR-B has and no one GR has played has been overly skilled at the skilled positions. In my opinion GR has more weapons than GTRA so I see this one being lopsided especially after the first quarter.

The most intriguing game is Exira/EHK vs Newell- Fonda! I see this game being very physical and coming down to some key possessions in the middle of the fourth quarter. I think N-F's run game and being at home gives them the edge in this one.

G-R has been very well known for playing very sound "bend but don't break" defense. Rarely do you ever see them giving up big plays, which I think is evident this year in only allowing 8 points in 6 games. CRB is by far the biggest challenge GR will have played so far. The Newell Fonda - Exira/EHK game in my eyes is the best matchup of the week. Just score comparing to their two common opponents, mainly ArWeVa you would have to think this will be a close one as Exira had running clock on them at one point I have been told while Newell had to score two 4th quarter touchdowns to really pull away from them. Edge has to go to Newell with the tougher slate of games so far and the home field advantage but I wouldn't count Exira out of this one by any means.
