I'm assuming your overreaction comment is to Exira/EHK

Look at it this way
#1 - 5 are the remaining undefeated teams
#6 lost to #2
#7 lost to #4
#8 lost to #3
#9 lost to #1
#10 lost to a 4-3 UR team by a big margin.

Rankings don't seem too far off

The Glidden game surprised me and impressed me. To me the top 5 is right on. I do they exira deserves to stay in top 10 for NOW but if peppers season is done they should fall out of top 10. The rankings aren't awful. I would maybe take turkey valley out since they got rolled by central elkader last week. Teams that could replace them could be one loss teams such as West Bend mallard, MMC, possibly GTRA. Newell Fonda is surprising me. With beating exira they really turned District one upside down. Its hard to judge this NF team. Started out 0-3 but have won the last 4. Knocked off #1 exira this week but last week barley beat ArWeVA by a score of 39-33. Boy this years postseason will be a fun one. Can't wait for it to begin.

Any official word on the peppers injury? Heard possibly torn MCL? Any truth or any updates. Feel bad for the kid. He is one hell of an athlete and one hell of a quarter back. Its just a shame

Quick word about the Mustangs from Newell-Fonda. They were starting 8 seniors on each side of the ball last year so much of their struggles were growing pains from inexperience. They just weren't clicking as a whole earlier. It is never easy to replace a talent laden class like they had last year.

Rankings are finally starting to look better. Some teams surprised me last weekend (Glidden, Newell Fonda). Regarding the big news after week 7, I talked to some people that I knew that were close to Exira area, they said they have heard acl, mcl tear for Peppers so he will not be seeing the field again this season if that is the case. Really unfortunate injury to a really good player. Wish him well on recovering. Completely changes that team. Here is how my rankings will stack up this week:

1.) Fremont Mills
2.) Central Elkader
3.) Don Bosco
4.) Glidden Ralston
5.) Coon Rapids Bayard
6.) HLV
7.) MMC
8.) GTRA
9.) West Bend Mallard
10.) Turkey Valley

Close to getting in: Lamoni, Janesville, Boyer Valley, Sidney, Newell Fonda

Yes I left Exira-EHK out of my Top 15 teams as I feel without Peppers they are not a top team anymore. Now they could surprise me this week and show me how good they are without him and really make District 1 interesting by knocking off Boyer Valley but until then, they stay out of my Top 15. Also left Lamoni and Janesville out due to competition still. Sure Janesville beat a tough N-K team but I think we can all agree N-K isnt the team we thought they would be this year and until they beat someone solid they will probably stay right there unless someone in front of them loses. Same goes with Lamoni. THey are closer than Janesville after beating Melcher this last week but still leaving them out as not much has been proven to me with who they have played. Awfully close though to sneaking in to the Top 10 if someone loses or plays a close game against someone they should beat without a doubt thats near the bottom.

No way central can be #2, they play the by far the easiest schedule. Wouldn't be surprised if that district gets swept, much like D8 the last two years.

and hawk what is your basis on that. Just cause. I'm sure Elkader will not get beat 1st round. Can't fix stupid.

I think they will win first round, I just wouldn't be surprised at an upset. Just think if they get to the dome it would be Adair Casey all over again because of a weak schedule. I base it on the fact that they play a lot of bad teams plain and simple.

Yes I realize NF was very inexpierinced entering this season and that explains the 0-3 start but riddle me this, how can this team almost lose to a not very good ArWeVa but then go demolish #1 exira? (Yes I realize they were pepper less but still 54-14 over the #1 is huge regardless) this team seems off and on. I feel like they are coming on at the right moment and also they seem to play their best in big games which would be the best case sceniero. Who knows where they'll end up in D1. They could make a surprisingly deep run in postseason (Maybe a MMC-NF quarters again?) Ik the state will decide who plays who and would pry want those two teams to have a bigger test in the QTRS but still that would be a good game based on their recent rivalery

I think Peppers is just that important for Exira (on both sides of the ball). Not many players represent a 70-80 point swing, but Peppers does for Exira. N-F is playing better than they were at the start (and their schedule to open the season was pretty tough), but Exira is going to struggle without Peppers.

Idk about NFs early schedule being super difficult. WbM was tough but losing to a HLP team which WBM blew out and MMC Shut out. Doesn't seem too tough. Although at that point that team was trying to gain a little expierrince and figure themselves out

HLP isn't one of the state's best by any means. But opening with West Bend and then going on the road against HLP and Boyer Valley isn't exactly the kind of schedule you want with so many fresh faces.

I dont think many people realize just how important and Peppers was to that team. He was more important to this team than what Hogan was last year. Not because of what he can do with the football in his hands, but what he also does on defense. I dont think many people realize he is a two time all-state selection at defensive back, not at quarterback. He will be missed way more entirely on that side of the ball than on the offensive side. He absolutely does represent that big of a point swing in games when he is on the field.

I also think that when a player of that caliber goes down early, there is a bit of an "Oh no, what do we do now" feeling within a team. It's hard to adjust around that on the fly during a game. I would be willing to bet that the point difference would have been nothing like that had they been able to prepare prior to the game.

If Peppers comes back there is no doubt in my mind that Exira will make it to the dome. If not, they have no chance (unless some star qb moves to Exira within these next two weeks) and will most likely lose first round.

After losing to Boyer Valley it looks like the Spartans will be a three seed. That could possibly set up a great first round game if they go to CR-B and if Peppers does return. If Peppers does return it will be interesting to see how close to 100% he is and will be a heck of a challenge to get back to the dome for a third straight time.
