Not to get too caught up in rankings but it seems odd that a 2A team would destroy a 3A playoff team from last year 42-0 and drop 3 spots.

Can't disagree with Williamsburg and Mediapolis yet. We'll find out in Week 3 when Williamsburg visits Mepo. Too bad that isn't the first game on the new turf field, have to wait until October for that.

IMO - Sioux Center is better than CLGLR and Spirit Lake. Could be some great games in the Northwest!

Four teams from District 3 in the Top 10........plus last year's state runner-up is the district as well.

I understand things change, but still...I look at District 3 as the strongest district in the state and District 6 as the weakest. It feels like that could have been better balanced.

With that said, #9 CPU will be facing unranked Union in Week 2. I see CPU as a likely 4th place team in D3 while Union should compete for 1st/2nd in D6. I see this as a "game to watch" for week two.

South Tama stomps a mud hole in Grinnell at their place and you don't rank them. Soon enough I guess.

New Hampton took care of business, but the rankings change probably reflects what the three teams that jumped them did do moreso than what New Hampton didn't do...Yes New Hampton beat a playoff team from last year. That Cresco team finished 5-5 last year.

CLGLR jumping them is a no brainer. Beat a defending state champ by 35 on the road. Might be the most impressive win we see all year, unless West Lyon ends up showing that they are down this year.NFV's 14-0 win over Decorah is more impressive than pounding Cresco, IMO. Nonetheless, NH and NFV could be ranked in either order and it wouldn't bother me as I think they are equally good.Williamsburg's win was a road win by 50 points over a 9-2 playoff team from last year. Myself, I would have ranked them one spot behind NH. But, similar to the NFV jumping of NH, its a tossup...
I know you almost certainly already knew all of this. Just saying... New Hampton will be fine in the long run. I look for them to move back up the rankings as the year progresses. Should be a battle royale to end the regular season versus NFV.
