Q&A with Ankeny Centennial running back Lawson Langford
How did the high school football season go overall?
“Football season went decent, I definitely wish we could have [gone] further in the playoffs. As far as [how] my success went I thought I did pretty well considering all the offensive weapons we have. got a lot of reps as the starting slot receiver and worked hard, had a lot of fun as well. Track also went well, running varsity 100s and 200s.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now I’m playing 7on7 with Level Up as well as training 3 times a week with D1 Academy with my QB Trenton Smith and soon track will start up.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Honestly I think Centennial will be pretty good this year. We lost a lot of defensive studs but our whole offense skill [players] are returning and we have some dogs. Hopefully we can make a run this year.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Definitely Valley, I think they are looking the best this year but I think we will give them a run for the money.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Not too many kids I’m worried about, more just the teams in general.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I think the season overall had a lot of ups and downs. We had games where we looked really good and others where we struggled. Finally ending in a round 1 loss wasn’t the way we wanted to end.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plan now with workouts and sports is lifting with the team and on my own. I have track coming up soon which I’ve been working out for that as well.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“It’s going to be tough to fill the gaps of the seniors we will be missing but we have a lot of key pieces returning on the offensive side so I’m excited to see what the season brings on the offensive side.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Every year we play many good teams and that’ll prove to be the case again this year. Every year there’s always a good game against Ankeny so I look forward to that one for sure.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“When it comes to individual players there’s a lot of names that come to mind. Playing 7v7 with a lot of kids right now that are super athletic and fun to be around so I look forward to competing with guys like Zay Robinson and King Coleman out of Valley.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“Our season was good, it wasn’t the result we wanted but I think it set us up for great success next year.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I am doing basketball so while doing that I try to lift as much as I can and just stay active as much as possible.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe our team will do very well because we have guys in the off-season who work their butts off, all of us have bought into a brotherhood and I think that’s the main part of what we have been doing and what is yet to come.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“This year it was Williamsburg, they have really good players on both sides of the ball, next year I think it will be West Branch because they beat us this year and they are going to look to try and do it again next year.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“One player I’m looking out for next season is Logan Wright for West Branch, he gave us a lot of trouble on the offensive line last year.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“The end result and record wasn’t what we had hoped and were expecting but we lost a lot of close games where we were up and the other team came fighting back and beat us in the final seconds because we don’t stay on the gas and keep pushing for more. But overall, a very fun season and I'm really looking forward to next season.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I work out a lot right now as I lift Monday Wednesday Thursday and then have my verticals and speed workouts on Monday Wednesday Fridays and also have basketball during the week days and some Sundays. I am very active and participate in as much as I can. I will also be doing track and AAU basketball as well as attending football camps. Also will be working out 5 days a week during the summer and usually 2-3 workouts a day during those days.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel like my team next season will be one to be scared to play against. I feel like we definitely have a chance to go far in the playoffs next year and will have a historic season.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Depending on who comes into our district next year will depend on who is the hardest team but I would say Akron Westfield who we can definitely beat. We were up 12 at half against [them] last year and lost by 1 after our running back got hurt.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“The toughest individual player we will face next year is probably Gavin Sleezer.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“This football season went well but we would have liked to make a longer playoff run.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now my plans are to try and help every team I am involved with at the moment with that being basketball right now and soon to be soccer. All the while continuing to throw and elevate my game on the football field.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I personally have a very optimistic outlook on this next football season. I feel as though our coaches will put everything together that will give us the best chance to win.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“As of now we don’t know our schedule however any team we face we are going to look at that team as the best team we face.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“As I said our schedule is not finalized, but I am sure we will play against a lot of great talent.”
