Iowa City West or the field

IC West is a great team. On paper, they should win. By percentages, there is more chance the do not win. Is the field stronger this year than in years past?
It's hard to vote against them until there depth is no longer there at ICW. They could win this and even next, than who knows...

They're good at the younger levels as well. I know they had 4 Freshman playing Sophomores this year and those Freshman were some of the best players on the team. Obviously the best Sophomores are starting at Varsity. They still had enough talent to have two Freshman teams and one of those teams had a very solid PG who could shoot very well, get to the rim with contact, and didn't miss any of his 10 free throws in the game I saw.

Iowa City West and it's not even close. The team that has the best chance is waukee, but I'd still take west. No team in the bottom half of the bracket stand a chance. The championship will be a blowout.

I have not seen Iowa City West play so maybe they are the Kentucky Wildcats of Iowa High School basketball. However, how many of the other teams have you seen play? It might be too early for a coronation.

I have seen CRK, NS, and PV. I have also seen Waukee on video.

Waukee and PV have the size to match up with ICW, but the ball handling is going to be the biggest question. North Scott and CRK have the athleticism to match up with ICW, but size will be the biggest question.

One team that I would like to see play and has been under everyone's radar much like DM North was last year is DM Hoover. I think the best way to beat ICW is to counter act them. They have a very solid offense, but I think ICW is best on defense. DM Hoover seems to be the best defensive team in the state. If they can manage to get past teams with more size and make the Title they could give ICW some issues. The glaring problem for Hoover is size, so if they do see PV who is much like Waukee that could be the downfall for them. If they get CRK then I think chances increase for them making the Title. Obviously, these teams need to take one game at a time.

They essentially are the Kentucky Wildcats of Iowa basketball... 5-6 probable D1-D2 players or high end JUCO's and only 1 is a Senior.

West is the best team I have seen this year and I've seen NS, CRK and several top 3A tourney teams. However, they have had some very close games-- at least until the 4th quarter. City High lost by only 3 and Wahlert was within two in the second half without Pemsl and Till. Of course, then the roof fell in! It is that last point that I think is important. Several times in the last year or two, West has had to come from behind or pull out a close game, and they always seem to do it. They are the best team with the ball and on defense in a close game at the end of the 4th quarter that I can remember seeing. They don't lose their cool. If any team can give them a run, it'll be either Hoover or North Scott because of those teams' great guards. West isn't really all that tall, but they are all quick, with good overall height, except for Devonte Lane (but he is a ball thief, par excellence). .

I think North Scott will give them a run for their money in the semi. Malcolm Stewart is going to play in the Big East next year, he is a 6'2 200 pound man at the point. Cortez Seals is an athlete that will be playing D1 next year as well. I think that game is going to be a dog fight.
