Iowa City West job now open

I'm going to be interested to see which names pop up for this job. It's one of the premiere jobs in the state right now.

I would not be shocked if Marv Cook interviewed.

a) It's a bigger job than Regina
b) He lives across the street from the school.
c) Drew would play on a much bigger stage to hone his craft.

For selfish reasons, I hope Coach Cook does interview for the position.

Either way, he will be roaming the sidelines somewhere in Iowa City this fall.

Side note: West is building a new football facility. That will attract a few coachs

He could transfer to West for baseball (if he so chose) and not miss any action in the fall.

Again, this is all hearsay and hyperbole.

Yes it is 90 school days, they could apply for an exception but the state rarely grants those.

A school can apply for an exemption to the rule, I've only heard of the state allowing a student athlete to play Varsity competition without sitting out and that was a situation where a student lived in a district but closer to another high school, his family moved within the district and the family decided to send the kids to the district which they lived in. This was not a move for athletic gain. I don't think that this would apply in this situation.

Now if Drew got kicked out of Regina and was forced to attend West (someone said they already live in West boundaries). Then I believe he would be able to play right away as he did not choose to leave the school.

Or he could go enroll in a school out of state then come back, he would be able to play at West right away.

Of course do we even know that Cook is even interested in the West job?

they already live in the West district. Drew and siblings open enroll to Regina.

Is attending a private school considered open enrollment. Seems transitioning to and from parochial schools shouldn't be punished.

If he's already in the school's district then he can walk out of one door into the other like nothing happened.

Private to public is treated the same. 90 school days. I am unclear on whether being a head coach has a bearing.

I recently heard Nate Kaeding's name mentioned as a potential candidate for the IC West job.

IC West promotes their defensive coordinator to the head coach position today.
