***** IN GAME THREAD - Bettendorf vs. Cedar Rapids Kennedy *****

So glad Kennedy is gonna win this game. I am in no way attached to 4a football. I am watching this game at home. For over 2 qrt's I have watched this game and it has been difficult to watch. Having to witness #43 the middle LB for Bett be a complete thug the entire game. Just some of the things he did:
Punched Jacobus in the nuts and made him puke. You can see the punch on tv.
He threw an elbow into an asst coach for Kennedy on their sideline.
Ran into a chain gang member that he easily could of let up and not hit.
He ripped #56's helmet off of his head and attempted a weak punch.
After he got his butt kicked on a power play when 56 pulled and putt him on his butt, he tried to wrestle with him.
After the whistle he shoved a player backwards into another player, then stepped on the pile and over it to push Dralle. I hope Dralle told him to look at the scoreboard and that him and his OL were gonna run over him legally on the next play.
Pretty sure this kid is gerring recruited in some capacity, he plays MLB for Bett. Hope the college coaches notice this and don't offer him any money. He doesn't deserve to play the game at any level. There is a difference between nasty and mean on the field and just plain dirty.
Also, shame on the coaches. I know what kids are dirty as a coach. You choose whether to allow it or not. They are just as guilty of not more because you have the power to take him off the field. From what I saw, he wasnt doing his job anyway. Spending time trying to throw a blocker instead of ripping through and keeping gap integrity. Not a proud moment for his parents. As a football coach, fan, and former player I am disgusted if you can't tell.
Also, officials, open your eyes! It was pretty easy to see. The umpire should have thrown a lot of flags on that kid.

After watching tonight I found out one thing and that is Shaun Beyer is incredible definitely has major D1 talent.
Bettendorf needs to really evaluate their football program. That was an embarrassment. Number 43 was doing something after every whistle, and nothing else. Kennedy ran a sweep play at him, he got laid out on a clean block, then while getting up off the turf sees Jacobus running behind him, turns and punches him in the nuts! Everyone in the dome could see it, it was out in the open. I saw him at least five times wrenching on a kid's helmet after the whistle, to the point where he's yanking the helmet off kids heads.
The ref crew should not have been there. Their number 1 job is safety, and they failed.

They are not teaching self-control or discipline. Quad city area, send your kids to PV, NS, or Assumption. I would not trust a single coach on the Bettendorf staff with my son.

Have to agree - seen this stuff from Bett before in the dome.
Coachs also complain about holds, etc almost every other play.
Tired of all the bashing of bett. 60 from crk punched and open hand punched our players in the chin and facemask several times. Go back and watch the hudl. You will see it. Definitely illegal but all that is talked about is bett. Unbelievable. How about all the provoking that went on by kennedy too. It's a tough combative game and these are young guys. I wasn't going to say anything because this stuff happens in football but tired of all the bett bashing.

Your claims are ridiculous. Provoking people should never excuse obvious punching in a football game. The punches thrown were by black and gold players and a couple were even caught on TV. Disgusting that you condone or try to minimize these cowardly acts.
there is no such thing as an open hand punch, its called a head slap. what 43 did was a punch to the stomach, several punches to the chin, and a punch to the private parts. I was there, and I've watched the tape. what he did was dirty, the other kids played hard, 43 was just dirty. someone told him that was the right way to play ball.
