Daniel Tillo of SC North sits at 1966 career point, per QStats. His team faces Iowa City West first...tough draw....Will the ICW team allow him (play him tough enough) to get 34 or more points so he can be in the 2000 point club....nice side store to that game...

Tillo had 20 and 11 last night. He currently sits at 1986 making him 14 points shy. I'm guessing he'll have that close to halftime

Geez im sure that will be the thing that coach focuses on gets them super hyped to shut the door on Tillo. Dan is pretty good and as long as his ankles are good 14 should be doable for him with whatever defense they play. that being said nothing is going to be easy for North in this game. Dan needs 25+ and big big games from Scarlett Neustrom and Billings. If they get one other guy to catch fire and make a contribution they normally do not make that would be the chance they would need to win this thing. Depth will be a problem especially if they get into foul trouble. Good luck North boys!!

I predict ICW up by 15 at half. Tillo scores his 14th point in the 3rd quarter when they trail by 20.

Really tough draw for Tillo and SCN. Would love to see them play any other school besides ICW. Win or lose, it's one of the best high school careers of all time. Hopefully he can' pass Dean Oliver and sit as the number 2 scorer in 4A history. Look out for SC North on the diamond this summer too. Tillo and Nuestrome make a heck of a one two punch on the mound. If Nuestrome wins Gatorade player of the year for baseball and Tillo wins Mr. Basketball, would SC North be the first school to accomplish this? I'm guessing yes.

I am still surprised Tillo hasn't picked up a D-I scholarship offer. It's probably because he doesn't play summer AAU games as he's also a very talent baseball player.

I'm hearing Tillo will be playing baseball in college. Nothing too solid, my nephew plays basketball for Le Mars and a lot of these kids keep in touch pretty regularly.

I think Daniel Tillo is probably a lock for Mr. Basketball, if he can have a decent game, whether he he hits 2000 (he probably will) or not. He has the name recognition and is an Iowa kid who (at this point) is not leaving the state for college. I think this counts in the eyes of the voters. I think the only way he loses is if Seales leads his NS team to the championship in an impressive fashion, and then Cortez still might lose out to Tillo. West's Coach Bergman is not, however, going to allow his players to make life easy for Daniel in what most probably will be his last basketball game in a North uniform.

Congrats on your nephew making it to state. Really like that group and Hibrands coming there really gave them another weapon. And Borchers is a 3-4 year all american at Morningside. What a steal for them..... Saw him vs north and wow what a talented kid. Now just give him a summer/fall of college workouts and when his skills catch to his athletic ability.... :) Not that he is not close now.... Goodluck next week!

Looks like he will finish his career with 2016 points. He finished with 30 points in the loss today. That will put him at 32nd place in the all-time career scoring list between Steve Soukup of Danville and Tim Olejniczak of Ankeny Christian. Nice career!! Especially being at a 4A school....

Tillo = Best player on the court easily ... Mr. Hawkeye coach's kid is OK , if he is starting at Iowa in a few years his dad will be looking for a new job

McCaferrey is only getting the big looks because of his last name. He's a good player, probably a mid major, but he can't play in the big 10 unless he shows major improvement. He's only a sophomore, so there is still time, but I just don't see it right now. I wish him the best of luck though, he's a nice kid!
