High School Game Night (Week 7)

8 man is a funny beast - where else could you talk about a game being a "slugfest on the ground..." and a predicted score of 56-42?

Regina over Linn? HMMMM

That will be a good game. Regina squeaked one out last week, and I know North Linn will be up for this game. The Lynx have some nice athletes, but it is a must win for Regina so I could see that desperation winning over. But, it should be a close game.

Does anyone have thoughts on the West Sioux/West Lyon game? It will be for the District 1 title and will be full of athletes. Should be a great game, too.

West Sioux's QB is a phenomenal athlete and makes things happens on both sides of the ball.
West Lyon is solid across the board. Will be a great game.
Playing for home field when they meet in playoffs again.

My gut says West Sioux, but that’s all I got. What about the Mediapolis Vs Wilton game? Anyone that can share their thoughts on this one?

I don't think N Linn's wins have been very impressive. Last week, Regina was more in command of that game than the score indicated. Take away one pick 6 and that would have been a very different game. BUT they have had their hands full stopping the run and N Linn is a run heavy team, so that's the only thing that gives me pause. And with the predicted weather...that's an unpredictable wild card, that could impact either way.

West Sioux has great athletes at multiple positions. West Lyon can play with anyone but has to win the turnover battle and get West Sioux's offense off the field.

The Lynott kid seams like a great athlete. Team leader in rushing and receiving I see. Do they split him out a lot or is it screens? He younger brother of the Jake Lynott they had last year?

I'm maybe a bit jaded, I haven't believed that Wilton is playoff caliber at all this year and not worthy of being ranked, so I'll disclose that, no science behind it, just my gut says, "they're not as good as their record." Mepo can score, but I wouldn't exactly say they've been tested either. They've put up an average of 42 a game, and Wilton, if you drop out their loss to ranked 2A Benton, has given up an average of only 6.6, while Mepo has given up almost 15. So, can Wilton capitalize on offense while shutting down the Mepo offense? My gut says no, that Mepo will score pretty handily and hold down Wilton just enough. I'll predict Mepo 32 Wilton 21.

Not sure about Wilton defense, but 34 of the 40 given up last week was the JV defense for Mepo so they don’t give up much. Mepo will have to play a clean game to win. 1 turnover or less and no stupid penalties. I’ll give the edge to Mepo just because they’re at home, but if Wilton can get its passing game going then it could be different.

Yep Jake's younger brother. He moves all over. Bigger athlete than Jake. #1 Koopmans for them is a great athlete as well. 6'3" 225 TE/MLB

West Sioux is up 21-6 and just recovered fumble at West Lyon 33 yard line. West Sioux is having their way offensively. Very impressive weapons that they have and so athletic.

Wilton 13 Mepo 3, 2:26 left first half. Wilton drove eight down easily until near end zone. Went for it on 4th and goal at the 1. Mepo having a tough time. Mepo pinned Wilton deep the first 2 times, but then went on 4th and 5 on Wilton 32 and was sacked for a loss.

35-6 West Sioux with 6:35 left until half. They are gonna be one tough matchup in the playoffs.

Mepo throws interception late. Wilton had pick 6 but kid stumbled. And another interception after stopping Wilton.

13-3 Wilton at half.

I had Wilton winning the district before the season began and have stuck with that throughout this season. They have a nice play making qb and play tough defense. Did Mepo self inflict during the game or how did it look?

I only listened until it was 20-3. It sounded like Mepo couldn’t contain Mays consistently, but also gave up a 97 yard TD pass. And Mepo wasn’t getting good yardage in the run game. And anyone who knows Mepo knows they don’t pass the ball well, at least not consistently.

Kudoz to Wilton. I haven't been a big believer. Nice victory. This should get them in the playoffs.

I humbly stand corrected. The Beavers won't be trifled with
