Folks might recognize me from Hawkeye Report.

I thought I'd ask opinions on the 2019 class. This years HS freshmen. I know of course Patrick McCaffery is highly thought of, but have heard the 2019 class could be loaded.

Any opinions as to the young men in the state that could be interesting Division One prospects?

Welcome!! I have no knowledge on freshman class but will be paying attn. to young Patrick very closely! Do we really have to wait 4 years? GO HAWKS!!!

Also welcome! I don't know of any freshmen with the reputation Patrick brings to the freshman class at West IC, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some good ones out there. Sometimes on the bigger/stronger power teams with heralded upperclassmen, some talented underclassmen get buried on the soph or JV team and don't get noticed until the season is well underway. You can be sure that if there is a great player coming up, the college coaches already have wind of him...or soon will. Last year there were some terrific freshmen in the state like Weiskamp, Blackmon (Senior) and Green (Cedar Falls), and several others. Will just have to wait and see if some of them keep improving. I'm sure some other names will get mentioned here pretty quickly.

Keep your eye on Jake Hilmer, North Linn. All-state baseball player as an 8th grader. Fantastic basketball player as well.
