With two weeks left to go in the regular season, who do you think are the favorites to make it to the dome and be part of the semifinals? Also, is there a dark horse that can make a magical post season run to get to the dome? I know it’s hard to predict with their being no brackets yet, but what does everyone think?

PC for dark horse

I think that's a very foreseeable possibility.

I think there will be some upsets upcoming, but not going to put any predictions yet...more of a gut feeling, but look how very wrong I was following my gut about Wilton v. Mepo.

I think that at least they will down I35 in very simple fashion. (Maybe I'm going to far, but we'll see.)

Not sure what constitutes a dark horse, but West Branch would be a team outside most top 5 rankings that I think is a legit title contender. Should be a tight race between them, Bellevue (I know they beat WB, but it's hard to beat a good team twice), and DNH.

Honestly, outside of W. Sioux, VM, and SCC in the west and DNH, Bellevue, and WB in the east, I don't think anyone has a chance at the title.

As for a darker horse for the Dome? Give me an east side team (Pella Christian, Wilton or maybe even Regina if they are healthy and beat DNH for the district) as I think the road to the Dome is easier out east.

I am going to say it'll be West Sioux and Van Meter in the semis from the west. The east has a few more teams that'll be slightly more difficult to chose from.

I'd agree, but say it's either one of those two teams or DNH that win it this year. I just don't think any other team has a very good chance to make it to the end this year.
Overall, I think the talent and teams are down this season from past years.

There are a good amount of quality teams this year but maybe not one that's head and shoulders above the rest like in years past. I'm really high on West Sioux to make it to the dome, especially in the west because other than VM there isn't much. with the new semis pairings due to RPI this season it will be interesting who they will get paired with in that round if they do in fact make it there

tough to tell if talent is down or pa

tough to tell if talent is down or parity is up. The real telling indicator would be success vs up class ranked teams. With RPI, we're likely to see a virtual end to that after next year.

I agree with Pinehawk that overall the quality of teams from top to bottom are down. I think there are 3 high level teams West Sioux, Van Meter and DNH. I believe this will be proven in the playoffs.
