anyone got any info on this team, what the qb will be like....what are their chances this year? i dont have any past history of the players coming up through the program......i just wonder when old man bladt will retire, and wonder if his son will inherit the job...i am not sure about that now, sinch the new coach, hoch in onboard...played d1 at missouri. his resume may be better

cyclone senior monson will be the harlans qb this year and was one of the top receivers last year. i quess he played qb as a sophmore , so he has had experience at qb. the backup qb last yr, no clue what happen to him, i dont even see him in the depth chart released by the harlan tribune today. .monson has some wheels on him , and a good passer from what i gather.. coachs claim he is a good dual threat qb, like past qb doran was. cyclones have a new crop of recievers, and the coaches said they are pleased with the group.coach bladt stated that there are some weapons with this group, with great hands and speed.. the offensive line will be on the smaller size this year for the cyclones, and are expected to work the outside of the line more this year..coach bladt stated he wished he had some of the big boys back this year, but u got to go with what you have on the slate. i thought it was odd the article said nothing about the defense, unless its in the next harlan tribune issue. harlan has to replace 18 starters on defense and offense, that is a bunch

Replacing 18 starters?

Last year Harlan went 8-3 with the average margin of victory of 32.375 for those 8 wins. The closest victory was still a 3 score, 18 point margin.

Can't be said that Harlan didn't have ample opportunity to give their underclassmen plenty of varsity minutes last year. If they didn't.....that is on the coaches.

there are some of the players that got into the games , and coach bladt is usually very good at subbing in the 3rd or start of 4 th with bigs leads.
7 guys competing for 5 spots on offensive line.
....53-schechinger (6ft-200lb) jr
....54-leinen (6ft-225lb) jr
....67-schwery (5ft,11-205) jr
....51-bendorf (6ft, 1-190) jr
....52-henry (6ft-200lb)sr
....72-grifith (5,10-260)soph
....65-bruck (6ft-240) senior..

so u can see, not a lot of bulk on the offensive line....and , not a good sign when u have a soph competing for the starting line up, unless he is just too good to keep out of mix
....

You can do just fine in high school football with a group of 200-220lb lineman (except with the top 4A schools). Generally are more mobile and may not tire out as easily. This is especially true if they have to play both ways. The Xavier and Pella state champ teams had some big guys, but also had many smaller lineman playing big roles.

I remember a couple years ago in the title game a much smaller Pella nose giving a huge Heelan center fits.

cyclone coach bladt stated once.....its not the size of the cat, but the fight in the cat
