HACK TO WATCH WEBCAST

IHSSN/Krogman made a deal with Comcast, and is trying to lay the blame at Mediacom's feet because Mediacom doesn't offer CSN Chicago in central Iowa.

I don't know of any cable provider in western or central Iowa that has CSN instead of one of the Fox affiliates (FSMidwest or FSNorth).

The girls union does a much better job with the broadcasting of their state tournaments. The boys association should take some lessons and maybe visit with them. I do get Comcast but wanted to watch the West/Washington game and they went to Blackhawk Hockey. When I tried to stream it, it wouldn't stream whether I used in-state or out-of-state. Had to listen to the audio. Was travelling on other days and couldn't stream either. Very disappointing coverage.

Unfortunately, this hack only works sporadically.

Tough luck to anyone in Sioux County that can't drive to the dome on a weekday.
You won't be able to watch Boyden-Hull/RV or Western games.

I urge all to complain loudly & often to the IHSAA and the sponsors.
Maybe they'll do the right thing by basketball.

This whole thing has me really ticked so I made some calls and sent some emails. From the calls I made, it sounds like IHSSN and IAHSAA are really getting some heat for this.

Alan Beste - IAHSAA Replied within an hour. Here is his reply:

" I appreciate your email and understand your concerns. The person who can best answer your questions is Ken Krogman, President of the Iowa High School Sports Network. The IHSSN purchased the broadcast rights from the Athletic Association about 10 years ago and has the rights to make all broadcast and webcast decisions. Please know that he has worked hard to make the broadcast and webcast available, but there are some limitations he cannot overcome. I have copied Mr. Krogman in this response.

Sincerely,
Alan Beste

Iowa High School Athletic Association

Here's the point. Send emails and make calls. Let everyone involved know that IHSSN sold out 2/3 of the state of Iowa.
