1.) Emmetsburg @ West Lyon

- There is alot of history between these two programs. So, this should be a fun one after not playing for a couple years. Both are going to be pound the ball powerful teams. This one will come down to turnovers and who shows up fired up and ready to play.

2.) South Winn @ New Hampton

- Great non-district game. This will be a good measuring stick for South Winn who has been getting alot of love so far this year. Should be a good battle between the run game of New Hampton and the run defense of South Winn.

3.) West Branch @ North Cedar

- Good d5 matchup that has big district title implications. Can West Branch slow down the North Cedar passing game?? Can North Cedar slow down West Branch's sophomore stud Luke Lenoch?? District title may be won or lost tonight!

let's talk later tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry, but I do not see South Winn beating NH by 29 points.
Nor do I see NC beating WB while scoring 34 points in the process.

I think all 3 of these will be close hard fought games.

Best chance for a lop sided win would be West Branch IMO

I don't see 34 points either, but it's certainly possible with the NC high-powered offense. Think back to the previous games (WB vs. NC), NC had big leads in all of the games and stupid errors cost them the every game.

I see a game that is closer than most expect

NC had big leads in all of the games?

WB led 21-0 last year, before cruising to a 35-17 win
WB won BIG in 2012 - 35-0
WB won BIG in 2011 - 56-0
WB defense, in 2010 games, held NC to 0 points in 2nd half whilst scoring 62. (28-21 and 37-12 WB)

EDIT: in 5 previous meetings, WB has outscored NC by an avg of 40.2 to 10.

this game will be closer than 40-10. In fact, I expect a great game from the Knights and a wonderful night for football.

But do not try and make a mountain out of no hill and claims with me.
Not gonna work. I actually do my homework and was at every one of the previous meetings.

I guess old age is getting to me there. I was thinking back to 2010.

If only the NC team would have shown up in the 2nd half of either of those games.

Emmetsburg does not have the level of toughness needed. West Lyon will win without much trouble.

NC is a good team and gave WB a good game last night.

However, WB made some mistakes that allowed NC to stay in it.

NC scored on the opening possession (very questionable 3rd down offensive PI not called on the pass), as Johnson threw it deep and the Knights scored. But the Knights could not slow the WB offense very much.

RB Luke Lenoch 324 yards on 40 carries for the Bears.

WB was up 14-6 and the Knights were punting to them in Q2. WB player fumbles, NC recovers. WB then get NC to 3rd and 26 at the WB35. WB def back lets NC receiver behind him and Johnson took advantage of it.

WB had too many penalties. NC had very few.

If the Bears would have limited penalties, the score would have been far more convincing.

As it stands, I come away impressed with NC's Jayden Johnson more than I was before.

They will have to establish a better run game to do damage down the road.

WB needed an eye opener and they got one Friday.
The Bears are still one of the better teams in 1A. You cannot have an OL/DL like they do and not be.
